When I finished yesterday at 4-30 the pro shop was closed.
Will try to drop the card in tomorrow morning.
3 scores were 94,102,97
Par 71 and from memory the slope is around 124, what that means I am unsure

Provided that 97 has been marked and signed by someone with a handicap then the 94 is your best.

The par doesn't mean shit as its the Scratch Rating is what you need (in most cases it is the par of the course but not always)

94 - DSR (71 for the white tees at The Vines) = 23 played to, to get your slope played to x 0.93 (bonus for excellence) = 21.3

next time you head out your handicap will be your exact x the slope divided by 113 (neutral slope rating)

21.3 x 124 = 2852 /113

Daily Handicap = 23.2 or 23.

Its going to be a bit of a roller coaster until you get your 20 scores in and the full calculation comes into effect.

The cards don't have to be marked by someone with a handicap, which I thought was strange

I thought that was odd that you were able to just put in cards not signed by a playing partner. Heater is correct in that your daily handicap will jump around until you have 20 cards in then it works off your best 8 rounds. When I started back I was 18 one week, 17 the next, 19 etc

Perhaps they do that at the vines to make it easier for people to get a handicap for comp and that it will work itself out whilst playing Comp.
Not sure.
I know when I played up at Belair the cards had to be signed off by a marker.

1 up on Saturday after not hitting a decent shot for the first 7 holes. Closed 3 up on the back nine. Yesterday Pennant practice. I drew a 6 handicapper... FFS. Having said that I got to 3 up after 4 holes. He gradually wore me down though, and beat me on the 17th. Was happy on the holes I did not get a shot was able to halve a few with pars. Sore today, golf 2 days straight, now 2 weeks straight takes it out of me.

Went around North Haven goat track yesterday afternoon, 42 for the 9.

4,5 and 6 irons were like someone else was hitting them.

Par on both the par 3's and one of the 5's helps.

Nicely done Boon... you were able to hit them well AFTER the port game?
Keep those scores going, you won't need new sticks!

Was surprisingly calm and collected afterwards. Although I did go pretty hard at a couple of drives early.

I'm not familiar with this course Booney... North Haven, so is that over the bridge at the Port and out towards the yacht club??
Is it only a 9 hole track?
