whats going on with Sixers Gozu?
Our defence and general effort defensively is appalling. I lost count how many times last night Torrey Craig just wandered into the key for an easy two. I think at one point in the third the Bullets were out by 27 and they put the cue in the rack at three-quarter time make no mistake that final scoreline flattered the Sixers. We've got a pretty young team so execution and smarts might not be there but effort shouldn't be an issue.
Along with that I haven't really liked Joey's coaching this season. He's always be known as a good coach for veteran teams in that he's a bit 'hands-off' but with a young team you have to be 'hands-on' and not expect them to just figure things out for themselves. His starting lineups & substitutions have been ordinary, he's still starting Teys who at this point is a liability I've seen more airballs from him this season & last season then I have from every Sixer combined and defensively he's just not what he was. Give a young guy like Ferguson or even Drmic a chance to play some genuine minutes and don;t sub them out as soon as they make a mistake. Ferguson last night played 20 minutes and had 3 turnovers and didn't even attempt a shot because he and the other young guys are too scared to make a mistake and get yanked.
Injuries have also been somewhat of a factor Mitch Creek tore it up in pre-season and the season opener but then got injured in the second or third game of the season and is still out. DJ was our best last night after missing the past couple of games with a hammy and there was speculation all week that Randle got injured at training and wasn't going to play last night but did and was ineffective. If he was injured would've been sensible to rest him last night with two tough games coming up this round Brisbane & Sydney away.
Our defensive effort and some average coaching have been our biggest issues so far this season. We can't rely on Randle to put up 30-40 every game to keep us in it.
