They constantly put up highlights of AC but nothing on Franks even though he signed a two year contract

Franks was highly unlikely to return despite being under contract, he would rather opt out to sign a bigger deal in Europe and given the big money he was on at the Sixers the club weren't that keen for him to return either.

The rumour of Wiley being his possible replacement is very underwhelming though and the talk is also the club has reversed course and are now leaning towards re-signing DJ after likely missing out on some other FA bigs. Before the FA period started the club also tried to get another team to take on McCarron for the last year of his big money contract but couldn't find any takers.

The reason for all this? No doubt cost-cutting as it's now public knowledge the Sixers had the highest roster spend in the league last season despite finishing 8th on the ladder.

One year deal. Surprising. I've always felt that he leaves just too much in the tank. Can shoot the lights out on his night.

Also the SE Melbourne Phoenix have signed G/F Matt Kenyon to a 2 year deal who spent the past couple of season with the JackJumpers.

Finally the Perth Wildcats have signed guard Ben Henshall to a 2 year deal. The 6'5" 18 year old is currently playing for BA's Centre of Excellence team in the NBL1 East.

In other Melbourne United news they've signed coach Dean Vickerman to a four-year extension putting him under contract until 2028.

The 36ers have announced club legend Scott Ninnis is returning as an assistant coach next season. Ninnis a former head coach of the Sixers won three NBL championships as a player, two with the Sixers in 1986 & 1998 plus one with the South-East Melbourne Magic in 1992.

The NBL have announced the 2023-24 season schedule which will see the season tip-off on Thursday September 28. The 36ers will open their season on Friday September 29 at Brisbane and will play their first home game Sunday October 1 against Melbourne. The Sixers will also play a Christmas Eve game in Adelaide against Brisbane and a New Year's Eve game at Illawarra.

There will also be two games played on Christmas night and a game on New Year's Day.

Also Melbourne United have signed young local Kyle Bowen to a 2 year deal. The 6'8" PF just finished playing his college ball at St. Mary's College of California and prior to that played a few games for his hometown Perth Wildcats in the 2018-19 season.

The SE Melbourne Phoenix have announced the signing of local Rhys Vague to a 2 year deal. The 6'9" PF returns to the NBL after playing the last three years in Japan and before that won four NBL championships with Perth in 2016, 17, 19 and 2020.

The Perth Wildcats have announced the signing of Next Star Alexandre Sarr. He's a 7'1" 18 year old from France originally from Real Madrid's youth academy and has spent the past couple of years at the Overtime Elite facility in the US.
