Big news today with the Breakers reacting aggressively to their 1-3 start to the season releasing import Darnell Lazare and placing veteran big man Jeremiah Trueman on waivers and have brought back import Gary Wilkinson who has been playing in Puerto Rico.

Wilkinson is expected to be available for the game against the 36ers on Thursday night.

36ers get their first win in New Zealand since 08.

96-93 final score, Ervin scored 22 and 6 assists and Frye had 18.

Hopefully they can back it up at home on Sunday against the Kings.

Hard to see New Zealand 4 peating now that they are 1-4 but still a long way to go.

That was an excellent win tonight by the 36ers in NZ, we were up by more than 20 at one point, the Breakers came back took the lead in the 4th and then we responded with Ervin hitting some big shots down the stretch to get the 96-93 win. Bring on the Kings on Sunday.

NBL games coming up on TV this weekend:

Friday night: Wollongong @ Perth at 9:30pm (One)

Sunday afternoon: Sydney @ Adelaide at 2pm (Ten)

Perth easily have the best 2 imports ive seen in the league since watching the nbl, i reckon Beal is more dangerous than Ennis when he is going.

Speaking of which Ennis got player of the month.

Cant see the Hawks getting anywhere near the Wildcats at the moment

Wildcats snuck over the line by 40

Trevor Gleeson got coach of the month too, 6-0 and playing like the well-oiled machine they are.

Thankfully the Crocs/Kings game was a cracker with Hahndorf's own Brad Hill hitting the game winner for the Kings 88-86.

Heading to the game tomorrow and managed to snag a couple of Corporate tickets. Pretty excited to see the new group and thankfully new coach. Sitting court side in the third row. Hopefully the arena is pumping and we can get a win 8)

Gary Ervine - What a gun, my new favourite player. Great game by the 36ers yesterday, I love the energy, enthusiasm and passion of the new coach. They have fixed the two things that I saw as the problem. Looking forward to getting to more games this year.

They even got rid of the male cheer leader, every post is a winner. :-)

GE Money certainly is a gun!

Today Townsville Crocs veteran big man Russell Hinder announced he will be retiring at the end of the season.

Im loving the way Mitch Creek has started the season after coming back from a long term injury, im pretty sure he has scored double digits in all games and is grabbing some big boards and making the right play and hitting jump shots which has been his downfall in the past.

I read today that it was the first time since 09 that the 36ers have won both their games in the one round.

Brayman, that was a shocking little piece of trivia. Never won two games in a round in the 3 years under Marty Clarke.

I honestly believe is Clarke was still coaching we would have been rolled on Sunday when Sydney bridged the gap in the 4th. One thing i heard on Sunday that i didnt really notice last year was the vocal instructional direction being given from the bench.

Is Fridays game on TV?

I agree totally and no way we would've won the game in NZ after they came back and took the lead or the game in Cairns when they did the same thing. I still can't believe he was able to get another top flight job in basketball, coaching director or something at St Mary's College in the US.

Yep, Fridays 36ers/Tigers game is on TV.

I'd imagine that's based on his development experience and success more than his time in Adelaide.

True, as AIS coach he farmed a lot of young players like Patty Mills to St Mary's but I would've thought after making the nest step up to pro ball and being such a complete disaster he would find it hard to get a serious gig in basketball again. He's done well getting the player development/coaching director job at St Mary's because I'd be surprised if he could even get an NBL assistant coach gig, let alone head coach position in future.

Actually I might have that wrong. The TV guide says it's Cairns @ Sydney but I saw a graphic at the end of one of the weekends games for Tigers @ 36ers but maybe they were just showing games coming up not specifically what TV games they're showing next round like they usually do.

If its anything like Sundays game I would be happy to pay to go. Actually haven't watched a full game on TV for a while though and would like to hear the experts opinions on what looks like a new team dynamic.

Boti Nagy said in his midday Monday live blog on Adelaidenow yesterday that he certainly thinks they're legit, currently 2nd on the ladder too.

I picked the 36ers to finish Top 2 this season but in saying that I also thought they had the cattle last season to go Top 2 and they finished bottom ;)

They look hungrier, deeper, more versatile, more resilient and better coached than last season's team though.
