Not a Newley fan mate? I thought it was a bizarre decision.

Not at all, met him a few times and think he is an arrogant, ignorant pig. Says one thing and does another, one reason he is not in a 36ers top this season

Fair enough!

Regardless of what he may be like as a person I still think it was a poor decision by Lemanis to leave him out for Damian Martin.

Supposedly Aleks Maric will be the replacement if Bogut fails to get up in time.

The Boomers farewell series against the Pac-12 college all-stars starts tomorrow night and will be shown live on Fox Sports both games at Hisense Arena in Melbourne starting 7pm Tuesday & Thursday night.

The Pac-12 all-star team just had a big warm up win over the Melbourne Tigers SEABL team 107-51 on Sunday afternoon at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre.

FFS the Lemon does it again! No way Martin, Goulding or Lisch should be playing over Newley.

A medal is a pipe dream anyway due to the horrible lead up with injuries, starting with Exum last year and then compounded by Bogut's injury and Simmons piking out.

The basketball is pretty much the only event in the Olympics I watch. Still have bad memories of the Bronze medal playoff game in 1996. Amazing how Lithuania never have more than 1 or 2 players in the NBA but always have such a powerful national team.

Just hope the guys give a good account of themselves but don't see how we can expect to finish above the always strong European teams such as Lithuania, Spain and France as well as the South American forces like Brazil and Argentina.

A good first up win for the Boomers without Bogut, Delly, Goulding and Broekhoff leaving injured in the second quarter. I didn't realise former Golden State Warriors coach Mike Montgomery was coaching the Pac-12 team.

Game 1

Australia 92 (Baynes 28, Mills 15, Andersen 11) def Pac-12 All-Stars 83 (Allen 15, Bonam 12, Pickens 10)

Australia lead the series 1-0

Game 2 is 7pm Thursday night.

In NBL news the Illawarra Hawks have announced they've brought back import and 2014 NBL MVP Rotnei Clarke on a 2 year deal. He's spent the last two years playing in Belgium and most recently Germany.

A much more convincing win tonight with only Bogut & Andersen out. Patty Mills and again Aron Baynes were the standouts.

Game 2

Australia 93 (Mills 29, Baynes 19, Motum 14) def Pac-12 All-Stars 63 (Bonam 9, Holder 9)

Australia win the series 2-0

Also unfortunately Clint Steindl won't be back in the NBL next season signing with a team in Belgium.

Potentially a couple of very big signings. Great for the NBL!

36ers coach Joey Wright, Taipans coach Aaron Fearne and Kings assistant coach Dean Vickerman are all currently in the US coaching at the Worldwide Invitational in Las Vegas trying out potential imports. Interesting to note Joey once again picked Kenyon McNeail to play on his team and another former 36er Lucas Walker is over there too to have a look at the Utah Jazz strength & conditioning team and also played in a showcase for scouts and GM's from around the world.

Confirmation now that after spending the last 17 years playing in Europe and the NBA longtime Boomers big man David Andersen is returning to the NBL signing a 2 year deal with Melbourne United. Andersen played in France this past season helping ASVEL Basket win the french league championship and is off to his fourth Olympic Games with the Boomers. Melbourne United have also announced they've removed Igor Hadziomerovic from the playing roster.

Never been a season like this before where so many of Australia's elite basketballers all return from lengthy careers overseas at the same time. Great careers for all of them, especially David Andersen who has been in Europe for donkey's years. Maybe Joe Ingles will come back to play for the 36ers one day when he's finished in the NBA.

Confirmed now that former NBA PF and Boomers big man Cameron Bairstow has signed with the Brisbane Bullets to a 1 year deal with an option for a second year. Bairstow spent the last two seasons playing for the Chicago Bulls and was recently traded to the Detroit Pistons who last week released him.

The 36ers really need a big now to combat the influx of bigs into the league, don't think DJ or Hodgson will have enough strength th hold th others out

Boti says we've made an offer to an import centre who played in the NBA Summer League who according to Joey is a glue guy that will do a little bit of everything for us.

Watched a bit of the Summer League on ESPN, thought the standard was quite ordinary considering the talent in it.

Hope we pick up a good player, thought we might have ended up with McNeil (I think that was the import who left injured when Randle came on board) ss Joey invited him to try out

The standard is a bit ordinary probably more due to the nature of it young guys on the cusp trying to impress in the hope of getting a training camp invite and then an NBA contract. Poor shot selection, turnovers and fouls are in abundance but the real talents coming through shine Ben Simmons looks like he could become a seriously good player.

We were always looking for a PF/C type for our last import spot. Joey did say in that article about that tournament he was coaching in over there that he picked McNeail for his team again to give him some exposure and because he was already familiar with the 36ers sets that Joey was also going to be running with those guys.

The Perth Wildcats have announced the signing of import Jaron Johnson a 6'6" high flying SG who has been playing in the D-League for Rio Grande Valley and just played for both the Indiana Pacers and D-League Select team in the NBA Summer League.

The Wildcats have also announced though that two-time NBL championship winning import Jermaine Beal won't be back next season.

A very good win by the Boomers this morning beating Argentina in Argentina by a point! The Boomers were up by 10 with about 5 minutes to go they came back to tie the game but we held on for the one point win. Bogut still out injured and Ingles wasn't with the team either back in Melbourne for the birth of his child.

Australia 84 (Andersen 16, Motum 14, Mills 13, Goulding 10) def Argentina 83 (Scola 27, Ginobili 22, Nocioni 13)

The Boomers first game in Buenos Aires against Lithuania yesterday morning was cancelled due to a leaking roof.
