The Cairns Taipans have announced they've released import Cameron Oliver for the rest of the season on compassionate grounds to return home to be with his wife who is experiencing complications with her pregnancy. Oliver remains under contract to the Taipans for next season.

Great news for the NBL the Sydney Kings Next Star Didi Louzada has arrived in the US set to sign with the NBA team that traded for his draft rights the New Orleans Pelicans. Louzada will become the fourth NBL Next Star to go to the NBA after Brian Bowen (Sydney-Indiana), LaMelo Ball (Illawarra-Charlotte) and RJ Hampton (NZ Breakers-Denver).

The Brisbane Bullets have signed import B.J. Johnson as a replacement for the injured Vic Law. Johnson is a 6'7" SF who has previously had brief stints in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings and has been playing in the G-League.

The Cairns Taipans have signed local Venky Jois for the rest of the season as the replacement for the departed Cameron Oliver. Jois is a 6'8" PF who played for Melbourne United in the 2018-19 season and has been playing in Serbia.

The 36ers have made a big signing, literally, signing young Filipino prospect Kai Sotto under the NBL's special restricted player rule to a 2 year deal with an option for a third year. The 7'2" 18 year old centre will join the team later in the year for pre-season training for the 2021-22 season.
