This x 1 miwwion!

Thats exactly what people are doing, paying 2-3k extra so their kids can watch Nemo in 3D.

I'd rather spend the extra cash on a great surround sound system to improve the experience. No point having a good picture if the sound is no good.

Or buying a blueray player, getting a HDMI to RGB cable and playing on your old CRT tv.

There is some truth in that in that slight visual defects can affect the image technology used to induce the 3D effect.
I would expect though that most people can see 3D, although I can't quote percentages.

I have a slight eye defect that impairs convergence of the eyes at close range and I lose 3D imaging closer than about 35-40cm.
That means for example I'd struggle to get a bus licence using the stereo microscope testing systems commonly used despite having good 3D vision at longer range.
It also mucks me up for Table Tennis a bit.

However I've tested it and 3D TV and movies do work for me.
But, as I tend to watch TV while walking around and doing things I'm unlikely to buy into having to wear 3D glasses to watch TV.
That would impair my visual function for the other things I'm doing at the time.

I paid 2.6k for a 46 inch LCD LED 200Hz TV 12 months ago. It has 3D but couldn't find a 200Hz TV without it (which annoyed me no end).

Don't regret it though - picture shites all over anything anyone I know has.

LG have tellys out at the moment where you can convert regular (2D) tv to 3D.
Most of the 3D demo discs we see at work are awesome (if they looked like crap they just wouldn't show us).
I don't understand why anyone would by a 3D TV that wasn't LG. Otherwise you need to get a 3D blu ray player (at least $200) and get the discs.
The "converted" 2D-3D telly doesn't look as good as something broadcast in 3D, but at least you get some sort of benefit for the extra coin.

It's NFL Online basically.

Watch any game (live or on demand) at anytime. Can even pick your own resolution so you don't pump your internet too hard.

My parents haven't a digital tv yet, but will need to buy one (or a set top box) before the analogue signal is switched off in their area next April.

Anyone got any suggestions about what might be best - they wouldn't be after the latest technology - in fact I've suggested to them, it might be best (given that cost is a consideration for them) - that they look at getting a tv that is an older style technology - it seems that there's new technology coming out all the time, which supersede other technology. And when the new technology comes in, I'm assuming the older technology is sold at reduced prices to clear stocks.

Post-xmas sales may be their best best I'm thinking. Has anyone got any suggestions re a particular type of tv, in addition to specific brand names?

I am also looking at another TV at the moment as the set top box I bought is rubbish everytime you have a power failure or move the TV you need to set the thing up again.
So I am looking to buy a new HD LED LCD energy efficient TV. Do not want 3D.

I am looking at a 32” but what I don’t get is HD v Full HD the HD is about $350 to $400 (before sales) but $100 more for full HD?
Also although 32” sold out what are people’s opinions on Kogan ($350 HD with inbuilt DVD)?

They bring out new tv every 6months. basically they will bring out a new tv and 6 months later it's basically updateed model. New models where out about 2 months ago. my parents got a new tv 2 months ago and after waiting a week for it to come in we found out it was a ex display model, even though I stipulated it had to be brand new. luckily we got the new updated model for the same price as the display model so sort of worked out to be a good stuff up.

The difference between full HD and HD is full will play in 1080p and HD will play up to 720p. The full HD will give a better picture when playing in 1080p. But in saying that if your not going to buy a blu ray player and watch blu rays or have foxtel HD then there's really no point in paying for the Full HD
