iPad2 tricks and apps

I know there is an iPhone app thread on here (last posted June 2011) but I'm more interested in the performance of the iPad2.
I can't put mine down after buyig it in December last year. Amazing apps etc but the instant email is an awesome tool. Google and Google Earth at your fingertips will settle any argument and research any topic in an instant. Ten hours battery life is huge.
Share your thoughts on here and let us know what you mainly use it for

I know very little about the iPad3. If you go into DJ's in the city and up to their IT section you will find a tall good looking chic who knows everything there is to know about Apple products. Easy to talk to and good to look at and she is a wealth of knowledge.

I'd go android, but if it's iPad2 vs iPad3 I'd have to got for the 3, just for the screen alone.

Also iOS will support the 3 longer than the 2.

you can't compare the apps on offer on Android compared to Apple IMHO. I use and android phone but still tote the iPad2 everywhere I go. Agree the screen resolution on the 3 is awesome but the 2 is good enough. Gets down to bang for your buck

It's an overall thing with Android vs Apple for me. Not getting into that here though. Ok maybe I will, Apple has around 650k apps, Android 600k. But it's a standard Apple comment that there aren't enough apps on Android. Not bad considering apple had 12 months head start.

Back on topic.

You talk about bang for buck. You have to assume the iPad2 wont be fully supported by the next iOS version because the iPad 1 is only partly supported by the latest version announced a few months ago (to be released soon).

At least the the iPad 3 you would have full software support for 2 years at least. (part of the reason I like Android - both my phone and tablet are running software that was only released a week ago). All the new apps will be developed for the Retina display so the user experience would be better too.

iPad3 it is.

For an extra $100 I figure I am going to get more longevity out of iOS.

I am using frequent flyer points to buy it and Harvey Norman seems to be the cheapest around

Cheers

HN? Really? How much? I've never found HN cheap for anything!

$498 from BigW for 16GB http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/ipad ... k-or-white

$648 from BigW for 32GB http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/ipad ... k-or-white

Cellular is more expensive.

Day 1 of ipad 2.

Keeping up with technology.

It is a smart, well made toy.

Very good and top shelf workings.

Does not replace your laptop. It is all about the apps you download to it.

Would be absolutely fabulous for introducing it to young children.

Not as confusing as a laptop. Touch screen is great.

Had a few grogs but will let you know of my apps.

All Free:

1. Kindle cloud.

2. Chess game.

3. ebay.

4. Touareg.

5. Mouse mage.

6. Blitz

It's only day 1.... :D

It comes with Youtube. Which is my favourite for music video downloads by computer.

By ipad I would only stream. Great when my ipad tower arrives from the postie in a day or so... :D

Mail, I'm with live.com.au

and had no problem matching it to my ipad.

Safari (Internet Search Engine)

etc, etc....

and itunes, which i try to keep away from.

You may have to register your ipad with itunes, like i did, with credit card information. :D

That is 12 months old and won't be supported in 12 months times.

Should have got an iPad3

Also you have to use iTunes.

Now that I've had one for about 6 months...

Good things about iPad2
Battery life
Starts up immediately
Light weight and mobile
Apps

Bad things about iPad2
Lack of flash support - incredibly annoying that apple deliberately makes it less useful than it easily could be
Unable to play any video downloads except through iTunes - this is a deal-breaker for me, and I will buy non- apple next time
It's mainly just a toy, not useful for work, as it can't handle word etc, although from what I understand neither can android tablets

If I get a tablet it'd only be to transfer photos too using a USB cable from a camera so I could upload them to the web.
Can you transfer things to the Ipad via USB or would I be looking at an a non Apple tablet to do that?
Would be handy on OS trips as I can't be bothered taking a laptop.
I probably should look at a notebook.
