The Glenunga maestro may have his hands full but expect he and Roberts to weave some magic this week. They need to!

Don't expect Central United to have it's own way with the Blacks this week either. Could be in for a surprise.

Think you were surprised b20 on both counts  , maybe wipe that egg of your face and back onto your plate

I can 110% tell you that you are wrong!! I know exactly who Mr M is(and yes, his a tool) and I know exactly who you are and am more involved at the club then you have been in recent years. :) I am simply speaking my mind and as I have read in the past pages this is the place to do it. I am supremely confident with the side we've got and they can deal with any pressure that may arise on Saturday week.

Just seems to be that when someone has a different opinion or brushes fellow posters up the wrong way you all become narrow minded and form the conclusion that it must be Mr M. His not the only forumist with an opinion :)

Pretty sure every club bagged your club equally. Wouldnt be singling out Glenunga.

Pretty sure every club had a good reason to bag CU!
And pretty sure every club in Div 7 will be happy to see CU go up to Div 6!!

Agreed.

Plus I personally believe it will be better for our B grade to have another year in Div 7R. We were competitive several times this year for 3/4 of a game and with the quality of Div 7 & Div 7R will be good to continue to work on that. (I know a few people at the club disagree with this though)

Not at all, but as i said people at my own club disagree, so i expected people on here to as well.

- While our A grade is arguable capable of playing a higher div of football, whats the point if the B grade is going to suffer due to elevation before its ready. (Were a club not just 1 team.) While most of this forum is about A grade (Div 7), I'm a B grade player, while i'm happy that the A grade have done so well this year, I don't want the B grade to suffer.

- Glenunga has gone from a team that was fielding a B grade side of 13 players to a club that fielded 21 players ever week except 1. This was the year we needed we got a bunch on new players throughout the year and as long as we retain 90% of the playing group I believe our B grade will be more competitive next season.

- I have a whole bunch of other reasons as well, but in the end it doesn't matter as were staying in Div 7 next year anyway.

The higher you play, the easier it is to attract players, sponsors etc. You should be more focussed on building depth for your A grade than protecting your B grade from heavy defeats. It also gives fringe players more incentive to play A's if your A's are more successful than your B's.

I see ya point mate, but at the end of the day, everyone should strive to play A grade meaning there the most important.
For example portland the side I play for, our B's won 2 game for the year this season, we as a club have the oppurtunity to go to div 2 if we win this weekend, no way would we stay down because the B's would get pumped next season!
As Lm said, its easier to attract players the higher div you play so that would make the A's stronger meaning some blokes get pushed to the B's making them stronger aswell.

The point is your club would be a Div 6 club, not a Div 7 club. The B grade is there to support the A grade and every football club is judged by their A grade. Your attitude towards this is very concerning and I'm not surprised others at your club don't agree with you.

You could ask every player from the winning A grade team this week in the prelims about how good it feels to:
a) Make a Grand Final
b) Have the chance to win a premiership
c) Be part of a team that helped promote their club to a higher division

I can garuantee you that not one of those players would be concerned about how their B grade is going to go next year in a higher division. If you think like that, you will never get anywhere. YOUR FOOTBALL CLUB IS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR "A" GRADE.

Success from the other sides below them is simply a bonus IMO

I guarantee you Bourkey would have taken promotion to Div 6 next year over the chance to spend another year building up your reserves team...

All valid point which I do understand and in no way was I saying had we made it to the grand final that we should have opted to stay down, but in the end it doesn't matter as we will be playing Div 7 regardless of my thoughts.

It's a strange thought process for sure and I can assure you as a B grade coach after playing A's for a very long time, that you can win as many games in the B's as you like but if your A's are not improving and pushing the club higher it's means SQUAT. I can tell you that we made it thru to the GF on Saturday and I was absolutely pumped by that. To then watch our A grade lose by 1 point and have to play another week for that chance to go up I was absolutely gutted and our B grade performances meant nothing when you think about THE CLUB instead of THE TEAM.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Maybe I should shut up while I'm behind.

While yes B grade may not mean anything compared to an A grade win, I guess I just want the whole CLUB to be successful. To be honest, I'm quite surprised by the lack of care for the B grade sides in some of these post's.

Each to their own I guess

I play B grade and i dont agree with your thoughts either, not so much a lack of care for the B grade more about creating more success around the club by moving up, as was mentioned, the higher you go the better calibre of players you attract, the better sponsorship $$ you can attract, in turn is only going to strengthen a club as these players filter back and create a more competitive enviroment fighting for positions in the A grade.

So your B grade endures a couple of tough below average performances, thats life, the overall performance of the club and how it is perceived will be far greater IMO.

The lack of care you are referring to for the B grade is because you would prefer your A grade didn't progress because of the lack of strength of the B grade. I don't see Eastern Park (for example) asking to be relegated to Div 3 because their B grade struggle, or if they get promoted to Div 1 ask to stay in Div 2 because their B grade might not be competitive in Div 1. After all, you want to make it up through the divisions, not wait for your B grade to catch up.

But like you said, each to their own.

I never said I didn't want them to progress, I have been there every week cheering them on. I just said "I personally believe it will be better for our B grade to have another year in Div 7R". I said this AFTER it was known we wouldn't be progressing to Div6 and I can find some positives that we can take into next season.

I guess I'm just trying to find a silver lining.
