Only new player that i am aware of is a fella who has moved into the town to work at the Producer who played in Berri's A grade premiership side this year. Don't know his name.

Personally I believe the best time to start training is in January as 3 months is plenty of time to build up for trial matches and to be ready for round 1. People sometimes forget that majority of country footballers play for the love of the game and training twice a week plus matches on Saturday when the season starts is a big commitment on top of working full time. Full on training from November or December makes the season to long, players become fatigued by the middle of the season and lose interest by the time the cold winter months of June and July come around plus most players tuck into the good life with plenty of grog and good food over the xmas and new year break so the benefit of starting early is lost. A couple of catch up nights towards the end of the year with a light run followed by a barbie and a few beers is the way to go and get into the real training in January is the way to go.
Mallala will be having a, informal premiership gathering to kick off season 2011 early December (why not!!). Similarly to last 5 years, there will be 2 trainings in December which will involve
a BBQ and a few touches of the footy before training twice a week resumes in late Jan. Blokes are told to look after themselves during January and come back in good nic, so that we can concentrate on ball work in the lead up, with a bit of fitness work and testing to maintain the standards.
I hear on the rumor mill Cameron Faulkner and Willy Serle might be heading out to Mallala any truth Swamp?

Guys like David Barnes or Nathan Young would have to be in line for a coaching job at some stage given thier experience at higher levels.

But just cause you've played higher levels doesn't at all mean you would be a good coach.

Not sure about any imaginary sources Ace, but I have been told of a few things that have come from the meeting.![]()
Basically points rule is the same as before except no deductions for senior colt performance and all players who were not imports last year will be 0 point players. Some examples of these players to my knowledge are Jack Chapman and Matt Pascoe for us and I think Andrew Hunt from Hummocks.
We have been told that we will be using Burley footys for another 3 years as well.

Interesting choice. Is he going to be a playing coach or not. Although even if he said he would be a player coach, fair chance he would still spend most of the year not playing.

Another one of your rumours AKA, you were pretty close with the Salisbury Nth players to Virginia.. might want to change your 'source' of rumours if there is one. Willy Searle won't be playing for Mallala and its unlikely that Faulkner will join the pies, but certainly wouldnt rule it out. Would be a more than handy aquisistion to the pies midfield/forward line.

Also there is no bye for the zone game.

Yes which is a good move. The other major change is that the 50m penalty has been replaced with a 25m penalty and the 50 to only be used for serious offences. Good decision that one I think.

Great move on the 50m penalty scrapping!!
So does this mean that if your selected to play zone, you are required to play or face suspension if you make yourself unavailable still MC? There's not much incentive for a club to encourage its players to play zone for the sake of losing a club game when the APFL is so close! eg last season positions 2-5 were only seperated by 3 games or so. Not having a bye on the zone weekend would definately suit those teams that don't have blokes playing, but disadvantages those that do!
