Seriously, would you rather play/watch a final at Morphett Vale or Noarlunga - One has the best deck in the league, good catering facilities, parking and an oval that is suitable to watching good footy, the other can hold 20 cars an average deck and an oval you can kick past centre on from kick ins!
In saying that i think some other ovals could also be used - in years gone by Reynella was used and I reckon Hackham would be alright also.
Aldinga's deck is crap! You know a final at M/vale wouldn't be so bad - not saying I would prefer it because it is a crap deck but the atmosphere would be better as it is a smaller ground & people would be crammed in if you not what I mean!... Sometimes playing on a smaller ground suits other teams rather than playing on a bigger ground & in finals its tight & close, the smaller grounds could produce a closer game than you would think... That is 1 of the reasons I think the home team finals should be at the home team ground until the Grand Final... Catering facilities would be an issue at some grounds but I am sure something could be resolved to accomodate the extra influx of crowds... i.e. bring an extra cart/stand in etc...
If they don't change it or give the option - I don't see why they don't use Hackham or even Happy Valley's ground & there is still plenty of other grounds they can use instead of being the same grounds every year..

Aldinga's food is crap as well. They also run out of food before the main game most times too. Never have i had a decent feed at Aldinga. More often than not the local Deli is by far the better option.

Are you guys serious?!? I know I'm one eyed, but theres always food still cooking half way through the A Grade, better than some venues that come to mind. You don't fall down cracks, get concusion when you hit the deck, slice yourself up on the centre, get ridiculously muddy or kick half the oval in one kick at Shark Park. There is a reason why we have no problems getting finals at Aldinga, it's a REASONABLE oval, not the best but a long way off from a bad deck.

Marion, Aldinga, Hackham, Lonsdale, Morphies and the like will never match it with the top 5. And it's the junior teams that are hurting. Junior teams being flogged by 30 plus goals each week will only turn kids off footy. As for the power house teams being allowed to have 50 kids in one age group on its books is disgraceful. Junior teams should be limited to 35 players per list with excess sent to the struggling clubs for the benefit of all. Get rid of the 4 team junior Sunday comp and spread these kids amongst the battlers. Time for the league to have some bite and tell Edwardstown that when they were invited to the league they had 2 years to bring their juniors across. Where are they??? Bring them over this year or p*#s off!

Of the top 4 sides -
Reynella - Brighton, MV, Cove and Noarlunga x 2
Brighton - Reynella, MV, Cove and Happy Valley x 2
MV - Brighton, Reynella, Happy Valley and Port Noarlunga x 2
Cove - Brighton, Reynella, Noarlunga and Edwardstown x 2
So going by that and last years finishing Cove have the easiest run of the top 4, interesting to note that Cove play Towns at Towns twice within 3 weeks i think which seems a bit strange?
MV and Reynella have to cop the BYE either side of the long weekend break, wouldn't think that would suit either team?
Oh well, it's out and i guess each team will make the most of their draw to benefit them.
At this early stage is a race between 4 again, them being Reynella, Brighton, MV and Cove, can't see any of the bottom 4 cracking these 4 powerhouses! Brighton being the only team in that group not to win a flag in recent times!

I believe that the 'Anzac Day' game between Reynella and Brighton will be played on the previous Sunday 17/4.

Correct
If true then a bummer for both clubs involved.... understand its Easter and the SFL will have the week off but the experience of running out on ANZAC day is great feeling as a footballer. Oh well!!

spot on wrote:Archer I can't believe you are serious, Aldinga is at least equal to most of the clubs you mentioned above if not better. Both Port Noarlunga and Noarlunga are clearly the best two clubs for ovals and facilities in the southern league which you probably agree with as they were the first two you mentioned. The only negative for Aldinga is the size of the visitors changerooms, but this is a problem with most clubs even Happy Valley after building a new one. However this is just my opinion. I think Aldinga gets a lot of negativity because it is percieved as being a long way away, I quess it is if you are coming from Brighton, but then that works in reverse also.
