Interesting you mention Bronte Jumbo. Footy club committee member, good netballer, two good club people. The kind of people you want at your club.

exactly right Onsong - both excellent club people - and both starting to have an influence on APFL/APNA. You have probably got to know Bronte this past few months and would have seen a valued community member and colleague.

Two less (lonely) people in the club - god that's bad........ (I feel you led me into that one :) )

Co-captain Scott Humphrys has picked up a job in WA. Unfortunate timing for the Roosters but these things happen.
He'll probably end up playing in the Goldfields Football League, Kalgoorlie.

I can guarantee you TWR I made no phone calls. And if they're moving to Kalgoorlie, Goldfields is the only league in Kalgoorlie, so that's just obvious.

good hit out last night by mallala.good numbers turned out to play and watch, the reserves just went down annd was impressed by the senior colts who had a run and the ones that went up from last yrs colts, the montgogomery twins played reserves, for some fitness i think but controled the game.kerr was good in patches along with work, gosling, jameson and gardner did his jo as well.a grade lined up with a few of last yr reserves in the side and they didnt disgrace,as usual earl, montgomerie, angus had good hit outs, whitwell was in everything and the new lads looked alright just need to learn the game plans a little better i think but will improve big time, hallion worked hard in the backlines, its was a win by mallala but must remember alot of footy to be played yet,as for night footy, did the goal umpireing in the reserves and found both goal ends a bit dark and hard too see but thats just me.

Went to the game last night and Mallala clearly controlled the game in the A's. They would have had controll of the ball about 70% of the game. I know its a trial but Pooraka are in Div3 and looked a little ordinary i hope they were missing a couple.

Mallala will always be decent unless they have a player exodus. I'd expect them to be minor premiers again.

Big thanks to Hamley Bridge who travelled down to Houghton today and gave our sides a couple of decent hitouts. Also, good to see a number of them sticking around for a feed and a few drinks afterwards - something we don't see very often in this metropolitan league.

FWIW, HB won both grades. B-Grade by a couple of points, A-Grade by 8-9 goals, IIRC.

without seeing any APFL games, i would say the top 4-5 NEFL teams would beat any Div3 teams when both are at full strength.

A good hit out Friday night for Mallala against Pooraka. Great crowd came along for the match more than we'd usually get for a minor round match against Virginia or Hamley Bridge . Mallala were on top for most of the match and ran the game out much better. Other than some pretty ordinary form (2 or 3 sent off) from a few of the Pooraka boys in the sceond half   the majority of the match was played at a reasonable pace and with good toughness. No major injuries for Mallalam but a few boys would be still feelin the pinch today at a guess.

How did all the other trials go?

I wasnt at Glenunga but heard the boys went down by 3ish goals after leading most of the day. Plenty were missing but this week against Ardrossan we should be close to full strength with Cricket and Tennis finals finished.

Eagles were beaten in a galliant effort Vs the Snake Pit, a few boys missing, but we were never really a chance.

Balak has a number of clearances pending. Of those, Scott Farrell and Dylan Ruiz are the main ones that will be certain A graders at some stage at least, not sure on the other lads as yet.
Hamley Bridge has a few more as well, with Kurubyn Floyd making his way across with the Burmans I think. Kurubyn was a handy under age player from memory for Robertstown??
United have also got three clearances pending for Fleming, Harding and Priest.

This weeks trail Vs Broughton Mundoora has been moved to Broughton to ensure Wakey oval is at its best for round one. This rain will certainly help, Fingers are crossed however that it clears for the Cricket Grand Final this weekend as if it gets washed out and replayed on the 2nd it will take a number of Eagles and Peckers out of round 1
