BEEGRADER wrote:Any truth in the rumour a certain Herald football reporter has been given a directive to not report facts in future following the ugly incident with Willastons Jones on Souths Musolino? Apparantly after a few phone calls to the chief of the Herald from the umpires and a certain high ranking association official (strangely enough with close ties to the Donnies) the reporter was dragged over hot coals. I witnessed the incident and also read the Herald report and if anything the severity was played down by the reporter in question. With this level of freedom of speech this rag should be changing its name to the Beijing Herald! Very ordinary ethics.
I intended sending this to the Herald but knew it would up in the editors bin.
ps, If the non officaiting umpire had the sense to pay a free kick instead of look the other way this incident would not have developed. Fortunately for Musolino the punches missed the intended targets and he did not end up with a broken jaw. Do the unpires have a duty of care for the players?

I actually can not believe im reading this, Mate if you had seen the incident anyone in their right mind would have called the Herald and said their piece. The story was biased and completely wrong and written with facts from only one side of a story. Being a journalist i thought he would understand that every incident has two sides to it. What i really struggle to understand is why the local papers always jump over mountains to report something that makes the BLG look second rate. I take my hat off to the association official for saying his piece. I can't be bothered even going over what happened that day, i for one realise that people will have their own view on what happened. Very disapointing that the herald run a story like that yet had photos of blokes wrestling. Shame on the herald and shame on your post BEEGRADER. Try looking at some positives in the BLG and maybe in life!
PS - The umpires are very very good in the BLG we are lucky.

this could potentially make it 4 captains in six years.
The Ozzie Leske's, Doecke, Baylis and co would have run over hot coals for this sucess. Just a point of envious discussion.

If we were talking about reporting on human rights abuses in third world countries and someone was 'censoring' a reporter then maybe we would have a reason to be upset but certainly not in this situation.
Surely the league and the papers should be trying to work together to promote the local game which will in turn make more people interested in reading the local newspapers?
If anyone from either South or Willaston reckon there were some off-the-ball incidents missed in that game then their first issue should be with the umpires on the ground, not with the local paper for reporting an incident or the league for suggesting that something that was written might not being the best interests of local sport?

We played a Div 3 side 4 years ago in a trial and won by 28 goals.
Most sides would be very close in Div 1.
Stop wasting our time with your brown coloured dribble....
