Re: North Melbourne 2013
Nicky Dal to North on a 3 year deal. Not a bad pick up. Still a decent player. He would be good for us on a half back or half forward flank, with short spells in the middle.
Happy with that.
Happy with that.

Whilst off field was very frustrating this year, JB and the board have done an amazing job off field and has the club in a great position to challenge for a flag in the next 5 years.
I would like to think we'll be challenging for a flag within 2 years.
By what do you mean challenging?
Definate top 8 and possible top 4 next few years but not sure if they can make that extra step just yet. Hawks, Freo, Swans and Cats wont slide too much if at all
We're stuffed. Won't make the eight next year.

Great get for no cost, Swallow, Ziebell and Cunnington getting the inside ball out to Wells, Harvey and NDS.
Bring on 2014

Re: North Melbourne 2013
You have to be proud of the way they have gone about this off season
They have looked deep inside to see our failings and have gone some way to rectifying them
NDS is a good pick up and most are forgetting young McDonald who most experts said would go top five
I am very interested to see who they delist now
Still hearing that they will make a late bid for McKernan which is not that stupid if you think about it
Really happy but all that has happened is they have given themselves a chance
Means sweet F%^&k all if they don't now work that little bit harder again

And in 2014 we will be paying 100% of the salary cap for the first time in a decade, some very prudent financial decisions have put us in a position now to invest into footy.

Re: North Melbourne 2013
Well North your 2007 is soon upon you. Geelong are done, Hawthorn will be about the place and so will $ydney as the AFL deems it so. Fremantle will be a tough opponent. I can see these four sides making the top four. I don't reckon any team will ever do what Geelong did in 2007, but the Roos could hop over the lot next season.

Re: North Melbourne 2013
the top eight again will be mostly dictated by a uneven draw
Richmond next year will probably suffer for there good year by having a bad draw
the roos and crows both benifitted in 2012 by easy draws and we saw how both those teams travelled this year
I believe both hawthorn and geelong will slip a little bit but not out of the eight
normally only one or two teams will drop out of the eight the following year
I believe that will be carlton and Richmond

I reckon Collingwood are a better chance to slip than the Tigers.

Are there any other professional sporting leagues in the world with an uneven draw?

The NFL works on a rotating conference/division system because there's 32 teams and only 17 rounds. So a good division, like the NFC West (which has Seattle and San Fransisco) could get the AFC South (Texans, Titans, Jaguars) or the NFC East (Cowboys, Redskins, Giants and Eagles). Depending on the year, some divisions are terrible.

NFL
NBA
NHL
MLB
All are similar. Some sides from differant conferences may go several years not playing each other. The Yankees and Dodgers went 23 years not playing each other in baseball

'cause the teams with no money have to play the teams with money twice.

But apart from the two games against the teams that finished in the same spot as you did in your division the previous year of which you don't play the reset of that division within your conference, the above example is random luck, and not as uneven as the AFL draw IMO.

Re: North Melbourne 2013
The only way the AFL fixture would ever be "even" is if there was 34 rounds a season. The only way that could happen is if they take out the finals series and whoever finishes minor premiers are the premiers.
I dont see a massive problem with the fixture anyway. The top 4 teams deserved to be top 4. The teams that missed out on finals never deserved to play finals, and Hawthorn are the best team in the AFL.
