Richmond - Still crap?

Talk on the national game

I think Petterd was/is a waste, doesn't lower the eyes and just bombs every time he gets it.

Maric, Houli, Grigg and Chaplin would all be in their former sides best 22 IMO. I reckon Carlton would have their Grigg/Collins trade back if they could, don't you?

Jack is clearly our best forward, but he needs space to run into, shits me to tears when tries to wrestlev guys clearly stronger than him. But I don't think he is helped by the way we play. Been good to see Griffiths come on a bit this year.

Ellis/Conca/Vlastuin will all be very good players, not worried aboutt hose three in the slightest.

The big key defender is the most important issue IMO. Rance is way outsized and needs a chop out. We recruited Chaplin to play on the 'monsters' but he's not that type, maybe Frawley is an option, but not for $800k.

I thought this thread might have been a bit harsh on the tigers but after watching that tonight they are still cr@p.

There are some good points made here in regards to the tigers. Im not sure what the answer is in regards to their list but its fair to say some of their players have developed the way they would have liked.

I blame it on the 2004 draft. 5 picks in the top 20 & we made a dogs breakfast of it.
1- Deledio (happy with that)
4- Tambling
12- D Myer
16- A Pattison
20- D Polo

Deledio been only one on the list for the past 4- 5 years.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

great point. these are the players that should be the backbone of this club, and in the prime of their career. leaves a big hole in experience, and is probably why they have had to try and get experienced players from other club to balance their age profile.

Could've had any of the following that went later:
Brett Deledio or Jarryd Roughhead
Lance Franklin
Jordan Lewis
Angus Monfries
Nathan Van Berlo
Mark LeCras
Chris Knights

Also chose Trent Knobel in the Pre-season draft, could've had Eddie Betts

Was a pretty slim draft really after all those.

Lucky they made ammends in 05 when they drafted:
8- J Oackley Nicholls
20- Cleve Hughes

Both gone within 3 years, god we were good at recruiting.

I'll give Richmond one thing DB- at least they have worn the repercussions of their poor drafting on the chin, and not pleaded for draft concessions due to their poor positioning like Melbourne.

Wasn't Pavlich taken in his 2nd eligible draft? Means 16 teams (at the time) missed the opportunity to draft him....

Pavlich was drafted in 1999, Franklin in 2004

All clubs could stake claims to choosing the wrong person over someone different, we have the luxury of being able to look back and know how players turned out.. the draft is a lotto draw, you are recruiting on potential
