The coach can't coach!

They have been clueless ever since Dean Bailey was suspended and forced out for health reasons and unfortunately passing away.

I think sando is a good coach in general, just lacks some assistant coaching talent around him to throw up new ideas. They don't seem to have a plan B these days when things go wrong. Bailey would have been the guy to offer up something new, I don't think Bickley and others are experienced enough to have good alternatives.

Wasn't this the big problem when Neil Craig was in charge as well?

Yeah, probably even moreso in the Craig era given his team was probably good enough to win a flag had we had a little more luck (or maybe if he coached a little better)

Having said that there aren't too many teams that can arrest momentum and turn it around and grind out a win. Geelong are probably the only ones in recent times that have done that well

So one of two things is happening.

Sandersons message is not getting through and the players are doing as they please or the message is getting through, but it's shit.

Melbourne have shown with the right systems any team can stay in a game and nobody is going to tell me Adelaide's list ( at the top end ) isn't considerably better than Melbournes, it's much, much better.

So is it the players or the coach?

For some weeks now I've been questioning the coach. I'll continue to do so until something changes.

Adelaide missed Betts again on Sunday, when is he back?

The Crows have Jenkins, Jacobs, Walker and Podisadly all playing on Saturday, losing the game, none of these were having a decent impact on it, need some more run on the biggest deck in the country, so let's make the sub and take off.... Kerridge? WTF?

That's not a player thing, that's just terrible coaching.

It's not the first time I've used it this year and I'm certain it won't be the last. ;)

I know spuds were expensive a few weeks back, but this guy is the biggest over priced spud on the market. He'll end up with 30 odd goals and Adelaide will herald him as a gun recruit.

The bloke doesn't put his head over the ball and perhaps off field he is a good role model for Cameron, but on field Cameron should look to others for how hard to work when you don't have an easy goal on offer.

Agree he is overpriced. But

He is 7th in goals for small forwards behind Bruest, Elliot, Wingard, Gray, Thomas and Matera.
He has laid more tackles than any of those small forwards.
Only Bruest, Wingard and Gray win more contested position per game than Betts.

I'm not calling him Glen Archer, he isn't a hard nut. He does win his own ball compared to other small forwards. Those three listed do play up the ground a lot more than Betts too.

Betts probably earns more than all of those listed ATM and should be scrutinised. For the dollars paid it would be good to see him be a matchwinner.

But he isn't going that badly. By the end of the season I think 40 goals is a pass mark, and 50 is a success.
Not sure if he'll get there.

What if he has 8 touches and kicks no goals in 3-5 matches? ( He's done it twice in 5 weeks )

If he has zero impact on the game, Adelaide would most likely lose the game. Not saying you are a one man team ( lucky for you lot! ) but he is a bit of a barometer. So if he has zero impact and Adelaide lose and he does that several times during the year yet kicks 40 goals in the other games, you'd be happy with that?

I wouldn't be.

He will go goal-less in 3-4 games a season. Always has, always will. Small forwards do go goalless at times.
He didn't play well on the weekend, infact he got smashed by Lee Spurr.
Hopefully that is his worst game for the year.

In a season where 60 goals may win the Coleman, 40 will be a fair effort.

If he kicks 50 goals in a season it is a really good result.
Since Modra, Adelaide has had a player kick 50 goals in a season only 5 times.
