Just means one of them has to sit on someone else's lap when they take the mini-van to get to parliament ...

got no issue with it at all. especially for the long term unemployed. how long do you have to be on the dole before it kicks in?

Apply for 40 jobs per month?
I don't reckon I could do that and I've got good qualifications

Not knowing the finer details I imagine you would have to be on the dole for a min of 12 months.

40 jobs a month is only really just over 1 job per day.....

Depending on the industry sometimes there are multiple opportunities and other times there is nothing.

40 jobs a month is a LOT.

I doubt I would be able to find 40 jobs a month as an electronic engineer. Certainly not in Adelaide.

This will lead to people just spamming jobs that look vaguely interesting. Or possibly just anything. Not sure how 40 as opposed to 10 for instance is going to increase the chances of someone finding a job.

Country folk are going to find it even worse.

I think people can utilise any skills they have to look for work in other industries.

There wouldn't be 40 jobs a year to apply for in Adelaide in my profession.

The 40 jobs a month thing is intentional by the Libs so if you fail, as expected you get booted off the dole. Even some hardcore right-wingers are disgusted by the Libs boot on the throat approach to the poorest in society. If you don't live in a gated community you will need to be soon when crime skyrockets

Class-warfare like this is to be expected from Abbott though who's still fighting student politics battles.

I got stuck having to go to a job club in between finishing Uni and all my teaching paperwork coming through. I was forced to apply for 6 jobs a day, even though I knew I'd be working in a classroom within a fortnight...

having a forced number of applications doesnt make any sense for any professional. and even for labourers or something it is a LOT

40 is lot in a month. I think they may be thinking that someone can just apply for a sack of jobs that dont require qualifications.
Anyway there must be more to it than just 40 applications per month across the board.

I think thats he idea. Basically have people working at all costs. Well thats what it seems like, as I said before 40 is a lot.

If I put my resume in at big w they wouldn't hire me. They would say I am overqualified and likely to jump ship. Which I would be.

the other issue along with this is the dodgy nature of Job Network Agencies who do not always work in the interests of job seekers.....

I know of one particular case which makes you lose complete faith in the JNA sector
