You don't give up an established gun without getting close to equal in return. A first year player with great potential and a pick that could be something or nithing is about right.

bennymacca wrote:of course, but you also dont expect to get paid massively when a player wants out - it is clear that the culture at the pies stinks and this is part of the reason he has left.

Shows how much you don't know. Yes, he wants out. Doesn't like the Leading Teams model being implemented and was certainly unhappy when his best mate Heater got the boot.

you are allowed to have your opinion that you think beams is as good as danger, i just dont share that opinion. no need to be a douche about it.

woodublieve12 wrote:The only blokes this year who can say they won games off their own boots from the top of my head are Franklin and Ablett..

Danger wasn't that influential IMHO in fact i feel he was sometimes the problem, not the solution.

and i agree with the fact that danger had a down year. but it happens, especially when you are carrying niggling injuries most of the year.

according to AFL website,

danger had 6 best player for adelaide,
2 top 3
5 named in bests

beams had 7 BoG
5 top 3 (including second best on ground, mostly to pendles)
3 top 6

so even in a "bad" season for danger he doesnt stack up too badly.

beams had a better year for sure, but if you asked me who i wanted out of beams and danger, i would take danger 100 out of 100 and i think most people would, assuming both are fit.

Must be something about Adelaide having to pump one of their players up to be one of the best.

Now that's just a silly statement

Judging by this discussion, I'd say most people would take Beams

You guys and gals make me laugh ... demonising Dangerfield because he's a dickhead off the field.

He's a gun, abiet not in the very, very top elite class but not far behind.

I'd take him over Beams any day.

Let the flaming begin ...

We digress though. Danger is a gun. Beams is a gun.

Adelaide wouldn't let themselves get bent over in a trade with Danger. That's my point.

I think Dangerfield is a very good player and can become even better. But I think he needs to play in an environment where he is not top dog. He doesn’t have any experienced players to pull him into line. I know for a fact he didn’t take the coaches direction in some games last year and did his own thing. If he was playing for Hawthorn or Geelong I think you would see a different Dangerfield as there is no way Selwood or Hodge would put up with that on the field.

There is more to a team game than having brilliant players. They must be willing to play for the team first.

:D I'm just adding the "bullshit" part in the threads title ;)

Having said that, my preference would be Beams.

I think how good Beams is gets hidden by having Pendles and to a lesser extent Swan around him.

Bulldogs put him up for a trade and no-one is biting.

In terms of players ability to lift and get their team over the line Joel Selwood would be right up there.

Might not win a game off his own boot (although his goalkicking has increased) but purely on will to get the ball at any cost and lift all those around him he is one of the best. Perhaps why he is the AA Captain....

Personally I think that is where we missed Van Berlo the most this season. He's doesn't possess a great deal of skill, but as a leader I think he is great for the club.

Scott Thompson should have been given the captaincy in 2015. Sloane and Dangerfield are still quite raw when it comes to leading a team in that way.

Beams v Danger. Beams for me as I can see him having a longer career than Danger. Both top players no doubt.
