"Lokan said it was a mature decision from the club to give him the job for just this season before reassessing the position. The former Collingwood and Port Adelaide Magpies player is keen to continue long-term if “things go well’’ this year.
He had his first session in charge last night although for the past few weeks he has taken training while Stevens has been unavailable fighting his court case.
“Every coach wants to put their own stamp on the job,’’ Lokan said.

“I’m not going to say I have the same philosophies as Nick and while I will put my own stamp on it, I’m not going to reinvent the wheel.’’

Given Lokan is an inexperienced coach should the bays have considered a Paul Roos style handover.

Either Hodgeman, Cornes or Kerley could have coached the bays for a few years and next then handover to Lokan.

Kevin Sheedy ad Mark Thompson are being sounded out as Senior Assistants ... stay tuned.

Kerls was approached but the nursing home wouldn't release him for the times requested by the club.

Studley and Freedie were also approached as a joint Senior Assistants but unfortunately talks broken down in the Family Court.

There is still hope for Hodgey, but it's doubtful Mass's deportation order will be processed in time.

Rest assured that every effort is being made to get the right outcome for the club, and thank you for your interest.

A few years? Maybe one year; I can't see any of those blokes wanting to do it for more than one or two years. I mean Kerley's eighty.

Few long-term coaches last a 'few years' anyway.

Interesting ideas there, maybe we could get Ron Fuller to head the search for a new coach and then ultimately hire himself on a 5 year deal? Or better yet ; we could throw a heap of cash at John Cahill and he could steer our ship for a few weeks before handing over?

Some good thoughts there.
Another way to go might be to get a coach who can take your club to four straight finals series, if only there was someone who could........... wait a minute isn't that what Mark Mickan did???
