He's a different Stokes nowadays.

I would love to see 'Different Stokes' as a headline.
I always thought 'Mumford and Swans' would be a good one, as well.

Or "Swan Lake one for the ages"

Even if he was playing, EVERY GAME, it still was a dumb decision. He was the answer to a problem we didn't have.

You mean, you already had an over rated outside runner past his prime and injury prone who was only above average in a good team 5 years ago?

so now you've picked that to bits Marbles, who would be good at selecting a coach? I think Judd, with a good footy brain and business aptitude, Poste with a knowledge of all things coaching (despite it being a different code), Sheldon (ex Carlton prem player and St Kilda coach) is quite good. Basset was spec'd here as being an outsider because he didn't get along with Trigg. Dew is the fave because he's been with Sydney for a while. I noted on the footy show that Simon Lloyd was rumoured to be amongst the front runners.

My concern with Dew is that he's never been in a rebuild phase (ground up rebuild). He started at Sydney when they were good and still are. His exposure is limited to winning situations and environments, something that's not there at Carlton.

Re : contracts, there is a guy on bigfooty who is keeping tabs on our list. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/c ... us.368412/

In short, 2 more years of pain for us putting up with Daisy.

Kenny Sheldon was always good at calling a spade a spade .. With the exception of Trigg, that doesn't look like a bad panel to me.

Except that they are all Carlton folk.
Really needed to be several from outside the Carlton "family".
When all is said and done its all a bit of a charade to appease the members, Pratt and Mathieson will select the new coach

they are probably both level in experience, with basset coaching 2 flags at a senior level, just the way the western bulldogs coach did and the way ken hinkley did. Basset cant help that James Hird cant communicate with anybody

Dew reminds me of Alan Richardson, will be better in his 40s as a coach, still an apprentice IMO

Bassett is doing not a bad job, hardly his fault or our forwards that the mids are useless. We have as much if not more of the ball most weeks but chip it around sideways for an eternity before bombing it long to a 1 on 2 or 3 contest. Has been doing some real good work with Joey and Carlisle. Still has some issues with communication and stubborness, still think it would be a bit of a risk hiring him as a head coach and would think with the setup at Carlton that would end in tears pretty quickly. Cant imagine Bass being told who to pick by board members going down too well
