Interesting debate, so if Adel Uni having so many go through the grades it will make them dangerous come finals and with Div 1 and Div 1res playing rounds 17 and 18 when Div 7 has its finals do they get free interchange of players. Their Div 1res team is currently 3rd and would play their 1st final when Div 7 plays its GF. So would that again in turn give them free interchange if the Div 7 team made the GF. If that all makes sense. :)

First you would need to find out how many players were moving between D1R and D7 I think.

Wouldn't think they were allowed free interchange of players though, I would imagine that finals qualification criteria would still stand for D7, regardless of the D1 situation - so unless they've played the required number of games in D7, wouldn't think they'd be allowed to play finals if that makes sense.

*Edit* - but they would of course be able to move from D7 to D1/D1R

Was more directed at the Mitchell Park and Flinders Uni who have come from 1 side each last year to 73 and 81 different players in 2 grades, that's a great sign for both those clubs when you consider the position they were in last year..

Yes you are so right ht, I am sure FU has worked as hard as we have to get the numbers. The reality is we probably both are still making phone calls on Saturday to fill the reserves, so the key right now is to get them all to commit for next season and then we can all call ourselves a 2 club team again. Still lots of work to do but yes numbers gives you hope.

And just on the Adel Uni bit, I'm not suggesting for one minute that they could dupe the system because they are way too professional for that but it does give them a host of options to fill the required grades. Good on them, I'm led to believe they had an influx of some 70 odd players into all grades this year, we could all be that lucky.

Previously, provided all grades between levels are playing, players have been allowed to interchange between a and b grades, b and c grades and so on. It's like non-selected players for Houghton's A grade playing for their B grade during finals. For sides with three or more sides, I believe players can only drop one grade from that which they have played the majority of their games ie if they've played 10 a grade games, players can't drop to the c grade regardless of the amount of weeks they may have missed with injury.
Players must have qualified for finals with the requisite number of games across grades.
Theoretically, uni could play those not selected in the b grade for that game; practically however, we will play those players who got the team to that position or it sends a terrible message to players. Since we rely upon the goodwill of players as there are no payments, tarnish this and we shoot ourselves in the foot long term.

Correct. The Thursday night Facebook status and ring around is now firmly entrenched as tradition.

You know you're in strife when Shane Lynch is lining up all Full Forward for you before he has to leave and coach the A's. Did take great pleasure in sending the runner * out to him to tell him to provide more forward line pressure. Next thing will be yourself lining up Yank Man!

* when we have one.

Why do the crabs always bring the bad weather to Houghton? Oval is going to be under water again.

They will need 90 tomorrow I reckon.

Granville back and in the two's, Korner, Becher, Harrowfield and Doening all in the two's as well. Keetchy still to come. Scary this mob, hope they are not saving themselves for us as it will be a waste of time. :D

Massive thanks to the Crabs boys for doing everything to get two teams up for this round, despite having tons of blokes unavailable. All the best for the rest of the year.
