Yeah it's those losses to dud teams that kill you. Port lost to Brisbane, we lost to Melbourne as did your boys last year. All three didn't/won't play finals.

Port also lost games to Carlton & Crows that they should've won as well.

Cant be losing to Carlton or getting crunched by the Lions if you have finals aspirations. Depth is their biggest issue, their top dozen to 16 players are as good as anyones but it falls away quickly after that. The bottom end talent just isnt there. If they can add a bit of depth in the offseason they will be around the mark again

yeah agree with this.

A win like that last night would just piss me off if I was a power fan.

So another loss was the go ya reckon? Get what you're saying up to a point but no harm from come from building a mental edge over Hawthorn. Better late than never I reckon.

Yeah because that mental edge in the minor round is so advantageous,

If we roll the Gold Coast we'll be 11 wins, an unlikely but possible win over Fremantle (if they leave blokes at home) might see us with 12 wins and missing the 8 by a game and a half.

5 losses under 12 points, losses to the bottom two sides. We'll have got what we deserved.

Probably the slap in the face required while the window of opportunity is still there.

As much as Dixon could be a handy asset I'd be more focused on getting an extra big-bodied defender.

Leg speed. and outside leg speed at that, We have 2 many inside mid's that are all one paced. The loss of White for most of the year and Polac has been massively over looked. Sam Grey and Ahchee have started to fill the void but all to little to late.

Maybe if they were'n tampon players for most of the season they would've filled the void earlier in the season.

Yeah, probably one that could've had more time invested into him rather than Young and Mitchell, the kid rotation has cost the club in development.

Good to see Sam Gray get 30 touches, Neade's doing enough to retain his spot on the list but it's time for some fringe players to be shown the door.

Slightly, I personally wouldn't have him in there but he is adding a little something more than the others. May aswell give him the next two weeks to see if he's up to it, it could be a case of like it or lump it for me.

Am i right in saying Butcher instead of Ryder/Lobbe up forward has offered something different for the Power? Particularly defensively?

Butcher's somewhat a "dummy" full forward, at least he presents and tries though.

(Watch all the wankers jump on this)

Butcher offers a contest, he's mobile and crashes packs. He doesn't mark it enough and his kicking is well publicised. However, watch the last 10 minutes of the GWS game and Wingard kicks two goals, both from a pack burst open by Butcher.Friday night, Wingards second in 5 minutes, on the back of a Butcher contest.

So, yes, he offers a hell of a lot more than Lobbe does when Lobbe goes forward and that's a blight on Lobbe and he needs to fix that. Having said that, his game at Alberton on Saturday wouldn't be enough to get him back into the AFL side IMO.

I think in the last two weeks Butcher may have brought himself another year on our list. I'm somewhat sickened by it, but I think he may have.

Butcher was a first round draft pick wasn't he? Obviously recruiters saw something special in him.. some take longer than others to adapt, who knows next season may be a real break out year for him.

Personally I think Schultz is spent and it wouldn't phase me to see Butcher have a full season at FF

Pick 8!

They also got Moore at 9 and Pittard at 16 in that draft too.

Forever known as the "make a power fan swear" draft.

Fyfe went at 20 in that same draft!

The rest of the top 20 seem pretty average though, with only Dustin Martin and Daniel Talia what i would consider A graders that went in that top 20

I agree with you they all cost too much in terms of draft picks. However, in 2-3 years I reckon Pittard could become an elite AFL defender, still a work in progress, with plenty of upside.
