Some real good laughs in there. The teenage lad, one of the highlights late on in the movie.

Just got back from seeing the new Star Wars.

Kylo Ren was my favourite.

The only parts that i didnt like were the lovey dovey bits that seem to happen too early.

Other than that, great movie.

Saw "The Big Short" on Saturday night. A really interesting account of how a bunch of finance types in the US people saw the global financial crisis coming two to three years in advance. It shows you how f**ked up that whole system was, that the mortgage securities that were being traded by big banks were effectively a house of cards waiting to collapse, but everyone was too greedy one way or another to care.

It also makes an effort at explaining some of the dry and technical financial terminology and concepts in a simple and entertaining way.

Great cast too. Steve Carell, whom I don't particularly care for as a funnyman, is particularly impressive in another serious role. Christian Bale is also in good form, as is Brad Pitt in a smaller role.

Yep, I thought it was brilliant. It totally went over my wife's head though, so if you're going to see it I'd recommend at least having a little background knowledge of the GFC.

I've seen and enjoyed it too, anyone with an interest in this may like to check out "Inside Job", a doco on the causes of the GFC. Made me want to smash a banker.

Just finished watching The Revenant and really enjoyed it, different but a movie worth watching. Read a bit about Hugh Glass aswell, he's got an interesting story. Some of the shots in the movie are picturesque and you get that feeling of survival in harsh conditions that trappers had to go through (well as close as Hollywood can make it).

"The Iron Lady" with Meryl Streep as Maggie Thatcher. She gives an excellent performance (she has the accent and the mannerisms down pat), helped by some very realistic prosthetics. The film does a good job of cramming her life story into 105 minutes - not too long and detailed, but shines a light on the key aspects. You also get a bit an insight into why she was such a tough act to deal with.

Also provides a bit of reminiscing for all those who remember things like the Falklands War and the end of the cold war.

Finally got around to seeing The Martian. Pretty good flick. Im sure you could shoot holes in several parts of the plot, but enjoying it for what it is is probably the go.
