didnt see much of the game, but I did hear the commentators say that Martin had 8 hitouts to advantage in the first quarter alone

Trengrove got 14 hitouts, Martin 51.

Looks like he did a bit around the ground though, and given port smashed them in the end, maybe he did well. Will wait for valley's review

Trengove had 25 disposals 15 contested, 13 clearances ( 8 centre ) 1 R50, 5 I50 and 6 tackles and 2 marks. Lost hitouts 51 to 14.

Whilst he was comprehensively beaten in the rucks he gave us something we haven't had for over 18 months, a fourth midfielder creating clearances. He was excellent and might have just booked himself 14 weeks of ruck duties. Sure, Howard will come in from time to time and Westhoff and Dixon will chip in with some support, but his efforts at ground level were outstanding and was clearly B.O.G IMO.

is it cos they have spuds on the coaching panel that they require spuds on the field too?

Does he have the tank to do it for the next 14 week's, if so could be a masterstroke from Ken.

Carlton v Port shapes as a good contest now. Watching the power game yesterday, in particular the 1st quarter I was thinking fair enough because Brisbane aren't the worst team going around anymore. Then they played another 3 quarters! Brisbane have a long way to go, the power played better, but all in context. Carlton will be up n about this week. Of the teams outside the 8, port CAN get in, but they just can't drop a game to the Blues & be there at the pointy end.

so port fans, do we expect trengrove to continue in this role for some time yet?

He is in the waivers in a few of my draft leagues and could be a handy pickup

Who do they replace in the 8 ?

West Coast have been pretty ordinary away from home, we could be one of the sides that struggle to keep inside the 8 if we dont turn that around.

Its going to be pretty tight getting into the 8 this year.

Probably us, key games for us will be the double ups against Sydney, Roos and surprisingly Melbourne. Melbourne COULD make a play for the 8 if they beat us both times, I cant remember our other double ups, might be Richmond again
