I'd like to slowly tattoo this post on Joe Tripodi and John Olsen's foreheads.

Only if you think the Crows are odds-on to beat the Swans at the SCG next Saturday night. Because if Adelaide 1sts are out, history tells us we will see a rapid decline in the quality of the 2nds' performances after that.VALE PARK wrote:Just crows looking odds on for the 2016 flag.

Yep. Every time the AFL Crows have been eliminated we've seen the reserves side lose their next final....
I'm not convinced we'll see them drop off so much. How many of these guys would really be putting off surgery in case of an AFL call up? Maybe 8-10 would have any hope at all, the rest would have been put in so they could get a more productive pre season. For the others another game, particularly a final, is another chance to show something to either the Crows or another AFL club for next season. For someone like Van Berlo, he's got no reason to be playing now other than SANFL finals. There's also the simple matter of pride. No footballer, at any level, likes to lose. I don't like the AFL reserves in there but I'd be amazed if the guys who take the field weren't putting in. In fact, I'm sure the AFL coaches would be asking them to play each game properly. It would be absolutely no different to the mentality of an SANFL reserves team.
Anyway, would love to see them lose. An SANFL premiership would be nice for the Crows players, no doubt. But it wouldn't mean everything to them like it would to Sturt or the Eagles. That, IMHO, is the core of the AFL reserves issue.
