Morphettville Parks should have been a synthetic track.
However the powers that be, are ******* clueless.
The issue was raised with them, but they just brushed it off and didn't see any value in it.

100% correct. When they did Gawler up, I thought Parks was no doubt going to be synthetic track.
Best location for it.
But now, I'd say Strath. For this reason only. Basically, rains 3 days before a meeting and it's under question if they will race.

I was going to run with that .. There's been some great plans for Vic Park over the years, but sadly people worry more about walking their dogs than putting the interests of the state first.

It's something Balaklava's CEO has raised in the past, now Tony McEvoy most recently calling for it. Vic park would be perfect.

They won't spend the money to do it.

Better Day last week – couple of nice PLACE Bets came in. Unfortunately, I forgot to ‘Trixie’ & ‘Yankee’ them up, so could’ve been better. Tomorrow’s races are a lottery IMHO. The Caulfield meeting is VERY tricky. The winner of the ‘Mannerism’ gets an automatic entry into the Caulfield Cup. Once again, both Sydney & Melbourne fields are effected by the weather – more Heavy tracks again this week, sadly. Will Waller scratch Winx again, as a result? Wouldn’t surprise.

Caulfield Race 8 – The Mannerism

As I’ve already backed Set Square for the Caulfield Cup, so I’m hopeful she’ll win this race & qualify for the Cup. The trainer was on TV Sunday suggesting that Set Square & Jameka are probably going on ‘separate paths’ to the Caulfield Cup after this race. He was pretty keen to win the Mannerism, though. Berisha has already qualified for the Cup, by virtue of winning the Mornington Cup earlier in the year – so this race is just a warm up for it & it won’t be featuring in the finish IMHO. I am a fan of Tom Melbourne, I think he can be a stayer of some quality & this Spring might be the making of him – reckon he might win a race like the Mooney Valley Cup or the Lexus on Derby Day & then run well in the Melbourne Cup with 50kgs – he’s currently 119th on the Order of entry, so will need to win a big race like one of those just to get in the ‘Big One’ ($51 at present). Sorry, bit of a tangent there. This race I’ll be backing 2 of them: Excess Knowledge – good gate & will be getting a ‘gun run’ 3rd or 4th on the fence the entire trip. The other is Set Square (naturally). Double figure odds the 2 of them – I’m backing both Eachway.

Box Trifecta: 2, 3, 6, 8, 12, 13

Caulfield Race 4 – BM 90, 1400m Race

Like a fresh horse here @ the Eachway Price, No. 5 Clemency. Great record fresh & the wet conditions shouldn’t worry her. She ‘maps’ OK – I reckon Dunn will have her 3 or 4 back in (to use a Trotting term) the ‘running line’. Expect him to bring her down the middle of the straight from the 300m & if she can finish off, she can win IMHO. I’ve backed her already @ $11, so the shortening $8.50 quote is good news, - 1 x 3 Units.

Box Trifecta: 1, 2, 4, 5, 9

These wet tracks in Sydney are beginning to annoy me. Not only does it make doing the form difficult, but the fields continually get ‘hammered’ with scratchings & that destroys the prices of those horses already backed!

Randwick Race 6 – The George Main (or if you prefer, "The Toothpaste Stakes")

8 runners – Winx is scaring away any competition! Will she win again? My gut feeling is Waller will scratch her again. I thought I heard somewhaere that the Top Weight will be scratched – anyone else hear that?

Le Romain was unlucky last start not to get us the money. At $15 I reckon he’s worth a small punt. Maybe an Exacta & Quinella too? Maybe bet like this: 3 Units the Win on Le Romain, 2 Units Exacta Winx/Le Romain, 5 Units Quinella Winx/Le Romain?

Randwick Race 8 – The Bill Richie

Interestingly, there are 2 x Godolphin Runners in the race & McDonald isn’t riding either of them.
He’s on one of the 4 Waller runners; Sadler’s Lake. Why is this? Is it because of the Inghams?
This horse has a reasonable wet record but will likely go back from the start, so that’s always a risk on a wet track. If he’s to figure in the finish, he’ll want them to be setting a good tempo up front. I reckon Lady Le Fay will probably do that. So at the price, I’m willing to gamble on Sadler’s Lake. If I can get $3.60 the PLACE, I’m very happy. Can I get $13 or $14 the win? We shall see. Big watch on No. 7 Tsarista – Berry has a very good strike rate when on Waller horses.

Box Trifecta: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Eagle Farm Race 7 - BM 75 1600m

I’m taking a punt on the weather & the track being wet. If it is (I’ve checked the forecast for Brisbane Airport which is near Eagle Farm Racecourse), then No. 4 Fusina is way over the odds @ $17. I’ve already taken it on UBET & the more rain the better for it.
I always look at Rob Heathcote runners 1st in Brisbane & I must admit I am a Jim Byrne fan too, so this 5 yr old will do me. I’m doing a ‘rain dance’ as we speak ;)

Starting get closer to October Lads & that’s when the form begins to stack up.
Enjoy another day on the punt but tread carefully, particularly in Melbourne tomorrow.
