Aside from the fact that Cheney plays a totally different role to Hartlett, he had a far better year than most give him credit for. Spent an awful amount of time prior to joining Adelaide playing as an undersized tall defender and predictably got exposed. Now he's settled into a far more suitable role and his game is improving as a result. More than happy to keep him in the starting side.

Mackay and Douglas would be high on the list IMHO. Plus there could well be one or two mids at the moment whose form or fitness might not demand selection.

I think it all depends on what happens with CEY/Lyons and if/who we bring in during trade period. We lose both "depth" mids and fail to bring in another mid then he is certain to go around again. We keep Lyons and bring in Gibbs for example then he retires.

Is Cheney uncontracted?

I had heard that, which surprised me. Surely he can't be assured a game at the top level in '17?

Agree on all four but I am in the minority on Brown apparently. Maybe just don't notice the shut down work he does but he gets exposed on the quicker smalls, esp. Hawks.

Hartlett took ( reportedly ) $200k less p.a. to stay at Port, so I'd think he'd be under $500k. Lobbe, with his 4 year deal, I doubt would be over $500k.
