Not really an Adelaide specific moment, but **** it, it's Friday.
If you're 40-ish now and watched telly back in the early 90's you would've either seen this or been aware of this famous televisual moment:
Reckon I watched this live, I think it was in 1991. Ron Casey, what an absolute card-carrying wanker.

Yes, people formed an orderly queue behind Normie that day....

Apparently the debate was about a republic. Some super-monarchists in that lot in the background, including the painfully toffee-nosed Diana Fisher. I think on the left at the front is Barry Jones, former labor party fellow with the super brain.

Does anyone remember the Big Ticket nightclub in Hindley street?
I was in Hindley street Friday night after the cricket and I remembered the good times there!

I worked at Jules in '93 and Mr Polities banned us from frequenting any establishment that didn't belong to him. He used to send his cronies into other pubs randomly to check too.
We used to get around this by sneaking in via the pool hall, doing a lap of the place, knocking back a couple of test tubes and away we went, never detected

If you couldn't handle the long line up that winded its way down those stairs you could always pop across the road to a classy establishment known as the Royal Admiral. I don't know if my mind's playing tricks, or it was something a friend told me

Yeah we'd sneak in for a quick one before or after the Big Ticket just to watch those birds dancing in cages!

I remember having a huge night on the sambuccas there once. It was the last time I ever touched sambucca. Caught the bus down to Footy Park the next day to watch Centrals play with a couple of mates who had indulged as well and had my face pressed into the small gap that the window would open hoping for death to arrive soon.

The Berkeley was better in those days IMO.
Always felt like you could be stabbed at any second at Jules.
