No split, I think the old FSA just grew bigger than the creators ever imagined and didn't have time or inclination to run it any longer.

I've lost a lot of brain cells (and didn't have many to begin with) since then so could be wrong

No, I was a big fan of Footysa and started this site when they closed down either their entire site or the part that let fans chat as I didn't want to lose the community that had evolved. I made some great friends through FootySA.
They might have re-started their site again afterwards but this place had taken over by then.
I remember intervening between them and a player when legal issues were raised due to what one of them printed, not sure if that was apart of their reasons for closing shop or not.
Its a while ago now, the memories are fading!

Not sure if too many people are aware but this site was originally sanflfooty.com
The SANFL didnt like that so we had to change it to safooty, it was very early on and worked out well as the site turned into something a lot bigger than just discussing sanfl.

I didn't know that.

I thought it was a local footy site that had an SANFL board, not an SANFL site that had a local footy board.
