The butt hurt, Bart Simpson, isn't about the Grand Final staying at the MCG, I think most non-Victorians acknowledge it's the home of the Grand Final and probably ( probably ) should remain so.

What the "butt hurt" is about is that the deal by AFL house and the Victorian government is one that benefits only the Victorian based AFL clubs. Sure, Shitlands, sorry, Docklands gets a $125m upgrade ( I assume that's how much it costs to polish a turd that big ) and metropolitan Victorian grounds receive upgrades for the AFLW and VFL to utilize.

Doesn't really sound like a national sporting code working on behalf of all of the clubs within the competition, does it?

The Victorian government and the MCC got together, the MCC said let's lock the GF in at the MCG for as long as we can, the government said great idea we'll give the (V)AFL $500m if they lock it away and hey presto, the AFL is happy to lock it in.

The argument that no other stadium holds 100,000 isn't relevant, IMO, as any other ground wouldn't be compelled to let in 25,000 or so MCC members.

Etihad isn’t getting much done to the ground, more likely a spruce up of the precinct and more restaurants. The MCC are covering the costs of the MCG rebuild which isnt even happening for another 10-15 years atleast. The interstate clubs were kidding themselves if they ever thought the GF would be moved

I agree, I said so above, but the AFL negotiating something that belongs to all AFL fans to better Victorian football was the sticking point.
