So pretty much 2/3 of a team.

McGovern the other half?

Charlie Curnow as well.

Been very disappointing this season Charlie .. Appears to have all the ability in the world so you wouldn't be worried about the future, but he needs to pull his finger out.

I think McGovern playing forward may have hindered his progress.
There’s room for both plus McKay as well though.

Piss Casboult off .

For the current rebuild timeframe the Blues closest neighbour was probably Brisbane, note past tense!

After 10 wins in 2013 (12th place) and 7 wins in 2014 (15th place), the Lions then went:

2015 - 4 wins - 17th (67.5%)
2016 - 3 wins - 17th (61.6%) * only avoided bottom due to depleted Bombers
2017 - 5 wins - 18th (74.3%)
2018 - 5 wins - 15th (89.1%)
2019 - 6 and 3 and in finals contention

Lions fans can realistically be expecting to play finals next year if not this year and contending in 2-4. These comparisons only heap more pressure on the Blues and fair enough for Blues fans to be asking WTF!

This is where the problem for Carlton lies, they've got 6-8 youngsters they've invested in with "all the ability in the world" but if 3, 4 or 5 of them don't become 200 game players ( and the likely hood of them all being 200 games is slim ) then they've wasted 3 or 4 years.

Footnote - I don't think Curnow is their problem though, he looks very capable.

Get Charlie up on a wing then. Struggling clubs can't afford to have their potential match-winners not delivering. Reckon Petracca continues to hurt Melbourne badly in that kind of way. Charlie not at the same level, but two more seasons dishing up what he has and it would be a fair comparison.

Problem is no one wants to come to Carlton whilst we are shit.

There's the problem, getting a coach who thinks they're bigger than the club or game itself.

I wouldn't be chasing a coach that has nothing to prove, maybe Ratten deserves another crack? Either way I'd be aiming at someone that bleeds Navy blue.

Not getting a game out of arguably their 2nd best player has hurt them big time over the past season and a half.

They've forgotten how to.

Competitive for 3 quarters against Richmond and Port, two losses by less than a goal, probably should've beaten Sydney and gave the Woods an almighty scare.

I've always thought Kreuzer has been over rated, carried a huge load for a long time but against the best ruckmen he's break even at best.

I used to think he was overrated, but I don't these days. Shame his body is never going to allow him to become the player he could/would/should have been

How about all the B Grade GWS players he recruited?

Not fussed by that. They were around for a reason, to fill a spot while we were able to get back to the draft. Done that. Moved on.

They didn't "read the room" at all there, did they? They thought they'd finish 12th-14th and Adelaide 10th-12th and the pick would have been giving up 4 or 5 for 10 or 12.

Shows where they are at, as a club, not just the coach. The whole football department thought they were going to win 6-8 games or thereabouts.

When does Silvagni get put under the microscope?

Imagine if they had to start again.

I'm not concerned by the no 1 draft pick. As I keep saying, we don't need draft picks, we need bigger bodies. Bringing 18 yo kids into this side isn't going to fix anything. As you can see, our midfield need about 3 years in the gym.

Silvagni? Why, because he's brought in a heap of good kids? Don't see what you're getting at there.

You're right, things are going swimmingly, my bad.

Two bad losses (against sides we got belted by last year too) - and we throw the baby out with the bath water? Fair enough.

Ha, I thought of him before, not the right fit though unfortunately, you could see his disinterest with the Melbourne experiment.
