Enjoy it Bays.... a long time coming!

I remember when we broke the 26 year drought in 2002, seeing the faces of the long suffering guys who’d been around the club for years, who toughed it out in the darkest times. The absolute joy brought a tear to the eye.

I’m sure their will be some very content people at the bay tonight who like the old sturt boys maybe thought this day wouldn’t come . Enjoy it folks, you’ve earned it.

The Bedge wrote:At the risk of sounding like one of those old blokes.. this Port Adelaide organisation is a disgrace.

Growing up loved watching the Magpies, played with aggression and ticker - none of these blokes out there play for the jumper or the club. None are willing to genuinely put their body on the line and head over the ball.

Just a bunch of over paid athletes playing a system and looking like a side that couldn’t care what the outcome is.

Really many of us SANFL purists have been dead against these concept of AFL reserve teams in our comp since day one.

Still to this day some of the PAFC supporters think this AFL Reserves side is a true Magpie side some really have NO idea.

Unfortunately the real Port Adelaide Magpies played their last SANFL game back in September 2013 at the Glenelg Oval many a black and white tear was shed that day.

For a AFL Power Reserves side to make THREE Grand Final appearances in six years is just not right.

The SANFL heirachy have totally FAAARKKED up our competition.

Ahh and bring back the true old Magpies who played for the jumper with spirit guts determination ferocity tenacity etc.
SANFL 2000 - 2011 Central District 12 consecutive Grand Final appearances and 9 Premierships.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF.

Hit em hard let them get up and hit em again.

Congratulations Bays! Thoroughly deserved Premiership. Whilst my club has trod water for a while I’ve watched your side develop and been impressed with the quality team you have put together and more importantly the toughness and passion your team plays with. Super impressed with your coach too just quietly...enjoy the celebrations!

I personally know at least 100 that would have! :?
I'm pretty sure there was a few people there today over 35. :?
Peter Carey and Stephen Kernaghan for eg?

Key word Adelaide Oval

Peter Carey and Graham Cornes were there for that too!

PS Whoops!

Oh sorry Lisa for not reading your post properly and poo=pooing what I wrote

I'll just add you to the long list, shall I... :?

So you don't think Graham Cornes and Peter Carey were at Adelaide Oval in 1973?
From memory they had a pretty good view of the game!
I'm sure there was a few people there over 50 too.
Back to the amateurs forum for you! ;)

Crowd looked decent today but I doubt it was 39k, reckon it was fudged by 4-5k

Definately didn't look as big as last year but they did open up all the stands this year.
The SMA are weird, open up more stands for smaller crowds, they need to get someone in the know involved, the MCG seems a lot more switched on in this aspect. I wouldn't charge much.

Well done Bays, true team effort and the best side all year.

The mirror image of some of those Port/Bays GF's all those years ago - every Bay player fully committed and harder and so got a few breaks, including a few frees, whilst Port didn't play with the composure to take some of their chances in the first half.

Have some family and family friends who have passed in the last decade who loved the Bays and went through those losing GF's and then the poor years, who I've always felt sad for they never got to see the Bays really be a force again. I don't know if it was known as Snouts in the 80's, but spent a few Saturdays there as a kid.
