Surely this deserves at least an 8 point reduction!
The Geelong Cats have been left red faced after an embarrassing bungle saw fans issued with an incorrect fixture list.
Dates, opponents, venues, and kick off times have all been misprinted on a fridge magnet sent out to club members.
Fixture dates are wrong for every fixture printed on the fridge magnet.
In fact, out of 23 rounds, the Cats got one fixture right – the last one Adelaide TBC.
The Cats are due to start the 2020 season on Sunday, March 21 away to the GWS Giants at 7.25pm.
But not according to the fixture card sent out to fans.
It states the game is being played a day earlier or later on Friday, March 22 (sic) at 7.50pm.
The Cats are due to travel to West Coast for Round 3 but are away to Fremantle according to the ropy fridge magnet.
Posting on Facebook, supporter Shane “Robbo” Robertson urged the club to recruit an experienced proof reader.
“Like not being able to employ a decent coach, GFC can’t employ a proofreader,” he posted.
“The wife’s membership arrived yesterday, out of 23 rounds they got one right, the last one Adelaide TBC.
“Every other round either the date, the day, or team is completely wrong.
“#uhad1job”.
Posting on Twitter, K Rock AFL commentator Tom King was quick to point out the error.
“How many Geelong members received this (incorrect) fixture in their members pack for 2020?”
It seems many fans just stuck it on their fridges without realising.
“I haven’t even looked! Just put up on fridge! What’s incorrect about it?” replied J
Other fans like Max Blake questioned whether the club would correct the error free of charge.
“No doubt the club will ask members to pay $5 to get a new one posted out …” he posted.
