Pakenham R6-13, seen bets for this horse priced as high as $176, now into $8.50 :shock:

First start for new owners who are apparently synthetic specialists. Be a few happy punters if this thing gets up.

gadj1976 wrote:I love a bet but am hopeless at backing winners* so I decided to lay my selections and have managed to have money in my account after 5 weeks where normally I wouldn't.

I've had a few setbacks. That being that the minimum 'lay' on betfair is 30 bucks. But I'm hanging in there. Summary below;

Summary
Start 200, end 158.48
Start 158.48, end 178.89
Start 178.89, end 207.18
Start 207.18, end 128.89
Start 128.89, end 153.44 (was down to 78.89)

Anyone who's used Betfair before would know that if you lay horses, it's not a quick win, it's more of a slow burn.

*I find that I back more winners now when I lay them, than I do if I pick them outright.

Bit of a struggle today;

Up to 259.99, down to 70.00, back to 116.89 at day's end.

Monegal at Rosehill (44/1) did me over.

Have you considered a price limit on how high you'd lay them at?

No. Not really because I only lay what I think can't win.

The favourites at Ascot don't seem to be doing too well. I'm going to lay them and see how I go. There's my warning.... I'd get on them if I were you ;-)
