And now a needless run out just to add to their embarrassment

Seriously this is a great example of just how important the "Mental aspect" of the game is. Most of the guys are physically capable but their mental capacities and concentration levels are seriously lacking.

After playing well to win the 1st Test their goal had to be to NOT lose the last 2 Tests to at least Tie the series and retain whatever the trophy they play for. But despite being massively helped with the weather in the 2nd Test, they blew that spectacularly when the Draw was $1.10 at one stage. Just simply a lack of guts and commitment to bat time which is what Test cricket is about at certain times.
Now they get blessed with losing an entire day to rain and need to bat the last day for a draw but they seem totally incapable of concentrating for any length of time. Where the hell is a Shiv Chanderpaul when needed? Shai Hopes' dismissal was a DISGRACE to throw his wicket away with that shot.

Kraig Brathwaite - Credit to him over the years for gutsing it out against the best bowlers in the world but has there ever been a more uglier Test opening batsman technique wise? His footwork is a disgrace. His Lbw would go down as the UGLIEST LBW of all time by a top order batsman.
A simple forward defense with a straight bat would have got the job done but he obviously has nfi how to do that

Little bit harsh on this windies side JJ, they have been quite good over the past few years and have been shown to be quite a patient and reliable side. Holder has done a really good job with them. They are far from the first side to crumble in England, batting over the past 5 years has been the hardest its ever been in England. Other then Smith and Kohli everyone has struggled there including stars like Warner and Pujara so I think its a tad harsh on these lessor players as I think they try but simply aren't up to it. This is also a fantastic bowling line up england have in these conditions, there is a reason they haven't loss a series at home since 2014.

Yes i may be a little harsh but if they are really serious about making their mark again in International cricket they cant just simply roll over as meekly as they've done in the last 2 tests. Last nights conditions don't come much easier on a 5th day pitch with the ball doing little yet they batted with the resignation that it was just all too hard to bat time.
Credit to them that they have improved in recent years (They had to, was impossible to go worse) but it's just frustrating to watch them surrender so softly due to a lack of heart, courage and commitment with so much to play for.

England v Pakistan, first test at Old Trafford.
Pakistan won the toss and are batting first, England have an unchanged team from the third test against the Windies.
This is the first test match where front foot no balls will be exclusively called by the TV umpire.

Pakistan are 0/34 from 13.2 overs, a watchful start.

In the ESPN Cricinfo article I read about it it doesn't exclusively say they are reviewing every single delivery but I'm assuming if they are going to be called by the TV umpire they would have to be looking at every single delivery.

And Mike Atherton just confirmed they are checking every delivery.
Pakistan 2/44, Azhar Ali gone for a duck and the big fish Babar Azam is in.

Pakistan on top but the longer your team stays in England the harder it seems to score runs. Got to get that early win on the board before that relentless attack eventually gets hold of you. Pakistan 326 Poms 4/94.

Real good day yesterday for Pakistan, they are in a great position at the start of day 3 and if they are able to break the Pope/Buttler partnership early then that sets them up nicely with England having a long tail (albeit a better tail than Pakistan's though).
Points I took out watching last night and watching all the highlights today-
Masood was excellent in his third successive test hundred, batted time and real took the sting out of the England attack, Anderson in particular looked tired but Broad toiled hard.

Pakistan's attack looks exciting, Abbas is the perfect bowler for a touring team to have when going to England.

Azhar Ali deciding to bat first is important too, unlike Jason Holder he is clearly not afraid to be positive to take on England's attack first up, plus having the 2 spinners would indicate they will always look to bat first if they win the toss.

Looking forward to seeing what unfolds on day 3.

Lunch day three
England 5/159, trail by 167
Pope 62

Just the one wicket in that session of Pope and England are slowly build towards Pakistan's first innings score .
