It was, then things changed, every day things changed.

Nobody answered me the other day, other than some freight issues, sitting to have a beer, some paper work for local footy and the casino being shut for poker, what else needs to be reopened?

I have no issues with anything being re-opened.. I don't even mind some of the "safety measures".

My biggest gripe at the moment is there seems to be endless recommendation, requirements and safety measures constantly coming out.. without any genuine justification as to why. What is wrong with what has already been occurring?

Take SACA for instance.. this year each captain needed to be 'covid captain' and complete infection control training and carry sanitiser.. no problems, that's easy. Now we need a covid captain and a covid marshall.. we can only have one scorer and the preference is e-scoring instead of the book... ok I can live with that.. restrictions around no high 5s or contact, umpires must bring a coin and captains remain 1.5m away for the toss.

Players cant give hats/jumpers etc to umpire - must be put behind the keeper like you would a helmet.
Penalties for using sweat/saliva etc on the ball.
Regulations around how the ball must be treated and maintained.

Rules for the sake of rules.

Do the AFL still scrub each ball when they go out of bounds?

Changed when and to what? Was this communicated somewhere I missed? What's the "aim" now?

Where's the fun in that? What if you like tossing with the other captain?

What I'm saying is the "Flatten the curve" was the initial plan, but back in March/April things changed daily.

In the Vic cricket leagues the umpires have to wear face masks all game and they have had a drop off of approximately 50% in many comps.

Most of the stuff is trivial and really doesn't make a huge difference.. but you just know there are some wanker umpires who will take it to the next level.

We didn’t have Marshals in March or April but let’s have them in September when there has been zero community transmission for 6 months.

In fairness places where Marshals are most prevelent are places that weren't open in March and April such as pubs, the footy, etc.

Should do what they did at the Bay Oval when they're broke. Rock, paper, scissors.

Yes and no. Most people are quite good after being told.
I was at a sold out show at the Ark on Saturday night and the Covid Marshall on duty did an amazing job, I left some very nice feedback on their website.

Herein lies half the problem - majority of people have been very good and compliant the whole way.. and the reward for it? Add more restrictions, see how far they can push it.
