Eagles by 38 now. Stick a fork in South's arse, they're cooked. They might want to sneak a 19th man on in the final term; give themselves a silly chance...

We’ve still got about 250 shirts to sell if anyone South of Majors Rd wants one....

Apparently the Eagles have equalled their highest score of the season. And this time they did it without an armchair ride!

Yes, pretty much one way traffic after half-time.

Commiserations Panther fans, so close yet so far. Good luck for next year.

That was more like the Eagles we've seen for most of the year. Kicked in to gear for the first time in a while in that 3rd quarter, largely thanks to the run of Wehr off half back and the brilliance of Rowe in front of goal. The midfield gradually got on top. The main concern in the end was the shoulder injury to Redden and will Lonergan, Goldsworthy and co pull up ok for another crack next week?

I thought Nick Hayes, Goldsworthy and Foote were very good, as was Jack Hayes. The group of midfielders solid.

There will only be one result that will be satisfactory and that couldn't be achieved today. There is the opportunity now for this group to prove they are the best team in 2020.

Good effort by the Panthers but this one was always going to be a tough ask. The Eagles finished top for a reason and for South, their winning streak had to end sometime. I’d be surprised if the Panthers don’t make a GF next year. TheY have a team with plenty of young players who will learn from the experience of two finals games.

Much better intensity from the Eagles this week, will need same pro-active attitude next week.
On - ballers much improved and proved decisive in 3rd quarter. Run from the backlines via Wehr and Mansell was back and forwards started to kick straight after half time. Tsitas set the standard in first quarter with aggressive attack on the ball.
Von Bertouch and Guifredda down on form and need to improve to warrant their spots.

Beaten soundly by a much better team on the day. Achilles heel of no marking forward again.

Good luck next week to both teams.

South named their best as Broadbent. Wilkinson, Karpany and Summerton.

Cracking first half. Some great goals, end to end ball movement, and plenty of niggle. The Eagles perhaps should have held more than a 1 point lead but South's efficiency in the forward half kept the scores tight..

Unfortunately we didn't fire a shot after the interval. 3 goals to Rowe early in the third, and South never genuinely threatened from then on. Much like 2014, the third quarter proved fatal.

Hard to find many four quarter contributors who won their position, a lot of passengers today. The tall timber of Haren, Whittlesea, Cailotto, Overall (to a lesser extent) failed to have a impact, so when you're dominated in the air as well as the clearances it makes for a long afternoon.

The umpiring was garbage. Soft, with plenty of infuriating HTB calls. Was listening to SEN and they called it as it was..

Bitterly disappointing finish to another season.

What a change it makes when you play the match with INTENSITY Eagles!

The intensity shown today should be the bare minimum that we should be playing with from the opening bounce.

Two separate gutsy efforts from Jones and Jack Hayes attempting to spoil the ball within South's Forward 50m arc that could have knocked them out set the tone. Last week our players would have sat back and allowed the South player to mark uninterrupted.

Lonergan's inclusion was highly risky but his presence was massive (literally) and helped us to win the clearances. Foote had a great game and Tsitas continued to rack up the footy. Wehr and Mansell were fantastic in our defence.

Jungfer's inclusion in preference to Seymour was an interesting call and the latter could consider him unlucky. Seymour has played well through the season but is pretty well one-paced and Sheedy clearly wanted extra speed back there. I can't see Syemour forcing his way back in with North's three quick little blokes - Young, LeBois etc - rotating there.

Despite this some disappointing signs from a few players again -

Poole once again with his idiotic off-the ball lack of discipline that almost cost us two goals. He must go. Toumpas cannot be in the centre square as he is a bit soft and plays his best footy out in the open.Von Bertouch needs a rocket up his a$s and someone to tell him to get our of first gear. He's got a huge mark, and a great kick. He has the potential to kick 4-5 goals but needs to play with some desperation. However he stays this week.

Can't believe you are an Eagles supporter. Negative, negative and more negativity. Show a bit of faith in the coach and club. You are a pita.

I would agree with your comments about a lack of a marking forward being your achilles heel. Overall seems capable but maybe should be the second forward as he is not consistent enough? Your club has had quite a bit of success attracting key forwards to your club over the years so no doubt that will be #1 on your shopping list.

But all up, your team is very, very good - the right blend between experience and youth. You've got young budding stars like Horne for another year who will only get better. Plus you've got a whole heap of young kids who may be just a fraction below the standard required to get drafted but who will be very good SANFL players if you can hold them.

It will be interesting to see whether Hunter gets redrafted. And if not whether he decides to stay in SA given that was not his plan before COVID. Keeping him at the club next year will also be a priority for South.
