Starc absolutely spat it when Nevill declared. Stood in the middle looking back at him as if to say are you serious, then when he left the field he threw his bat then threw one of his gloves

I can understand Starc, never made a first grade century, Nevill should have said will give you couple of overs to get there (assume by his reaction that did not happen) and let him hit out, only needed a couple of big hits.

Yeah, was a bit wrong, Starc had every right to be pissed.

Question time: Who was the captain and who was the batsman when the skipper waited for the batsman to reach 200 before declaring, subsequently costing the team the win?

It was at the WACA for memory, I could be wrong though, I was once.

I think you're referring to Brad Hodge and the captain was Ricky Ponting, Australia v South Africa at the WACA in 2005. Hodge scored 203* in Australia's second innings, they scored 8/528 declared setting SA 491 to win and they batted 126 overs to draw the test making 5/287.

That be it, it may have been Hodge's final test appearance too, I thought it was Punter and initially thought it was Marto.

The fact it cost us a win doesn't really annoy me as much as it now allows Hodge to say he's got a test double century. That should be reserved for the likes of Bradman, SWaugh, Simpson, Chappell and Gillespie

Is it odd that for years our bowlers performed well and it has been our batting that was woeful.

We get in a new coach, arguably one of the states most successful bowling products and we cant take a wicket to save our lives.....we still cant bat either.

Surely Shane Watson gets a run if for nothing more than being a flog and costing us a review every innings he played.
