I find it slightly sad and reflective of society in general with how many players don't return to their old clubs these days.

I miss the good old days.

Give it time...

There are a few the club has been in contact with...

Here's hoping, apart from the Menzel brothers it's been slim pickings over the past few years having missed out on the likes of Jack Hannath and Sam Colquhoun returning too!

Jack Hannath returned to Central, post his time in the AFL at Fremantle.

He then left the club as he felt he wasn't getting enough opportunity in the senior team.

Went and played in the NEAFL with the NT Thunder and then when they disbanded, he chose to come back to Glenelg.

Andrew Capel just tweeted Bryce Gibbs will be playing SANFL in 2020 with South Adelaide, not Glenelg.

The Bays today posted about 3 new recruits and advised Gibbs told them he'd not be playing for the Bays next year.

Who was the last AFL listed player the club has picked up...……………………….maybe Holman, Potter. Both of them turned out pretty decent.

Seems the club has gone away from that strategy in recent times or I could just be forgetting a few.

John Butcher in 2017, Elliot Kavanagh in 2016 and Bryce Retzlaff in 2014.

Knew you would have the answer. All were pretty decent recruits.

Not sure why we have gone away from looking at committed ex AFL list players. The country NSW tactic just hasn't seemed to cut the mustard in recent years despite proven extremely successful in the 2000's.

I know it was earlier than that (2012 maybe?) But how many seasons did Collier stick around for?

Hosie an especially good pick up, given that Josh Scott won't be returning next year. Will be interesting to see if either he or Toby Pink choose to get burnt by the AFL draft again.

Heard 2 weeks ago that he (Scott) was back in Adelaide and playing. Very surprised if not at the Bays.

Surely the difference in $$ wouldn’t persuade him to go to South?
He’s been paid this year and next year anyway by the crows.

Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve bailed a bloke out with debts.

Tom Collier was at the Dogs for 5 seasons.

Started in 2012 and finished at the end of 2017.

Was an underrated player, IMHO, playing a state game for SA as well.
