EAGLES 2020 PREMIERS

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Footy fans come in all shapes and sizes, mentally - from the tragics, the quiet sufferers, the excitable and those who are occasionally OTT if not deranged - sometimes we are all of these at once.

To attribute particular characteristics to the supporters of particular clubs is a bit hazardous, however, it's fair to say that South supporters display remarkable strength, loyalty and eternal hopefulness - and the Southies I know, love the game - as do all of us - especially the SANFL and its authenticity.

Overall, we all have good supporters and shockers, and we love the former and try to ignore the latter - not easy! Most SANFL supporters are always up for a chat, depending on the stage of a game, but, being Bidenesque, there might be, in sober moments, more that unites us than what divides us.

While this is an excellent forum, it is a small sample, and most of the posters play the ball, only way to go, may the SANFL run forever, Merry Christmas!!

Well said sir
Whatever I was like before my injury I hopefully am a bit more low key. I have to watch myself I can’t get into fights as a physical fight would kill me .
I have met so many great people from footy forums and some just being Eagles fans
Thank you sir

Great post Brendan.

I can talk footy all day with anyone who loves their club. SANFL supporters I guess who love their club, respect other clubs and players and can also see where their own club has faults. No opponents means no competition. It's only unfounded "abuse" that's the problem. I for one have been guilty of that.

I hope to be a gracious winner of a premiership very soon. Just like the last 56 years.

Enjoy the premiership,

We win a premiership and the government might lock down Woodville now. The worlds gone mad. :(

Just goes to show how finely balanced this year (and premiership) was. A "pure" balanced 2 x 7 game season, without AFL reserves muddying the program, and a covid free finals season. Could have been thrown into disarray at any time.

Good news, James Tsitas has agreed to return to the Eagles in 2021, he was a very important part of the Premiership midfield.

I think that we should keep James T chained up in a cellar over summer. Throw him a bit of chook/rooster to keep him going.

Tsitas a vital signing by the Eags. He was a vocal leader in the midfield, an extrovert that we have lacked since Cicca. Also has an astute footy brain and is keen to coach down the track.

Not unusual for us to have a high turnover of players but we will have at least 7 Premiership team members playing elsewhere next year.

That's going to be the big ask for Sheedy and Co. Its ok getting replacements but how they gel is an issue. A few of our recruits are coming from lower leagues so may take time to get the pace and slightly different rules in the SANFL.

It’s bloody tough. We found that out this year after losing 8 from the flag side to the draft, retirement & season long injuries.

And so ends an almost complete season: minor premiers, eventual GF premiers, leading goal scorer, mark of the year, Stanley H Lewis trophy, and Reserves premiers. Apart from a pesky virus, who could ask for more?

Oh and I forgot: no AFL reserve teams stuffing up the fixture.
