Well as much as I don't like it, if Warner and Pucovski are out, and Burns doesn't warrant a spot then there really is no other option than Wade to open.

Injured: Warner, Pucovski
Terrible Form: Burns

Last man Standing: Harris

Left Field Options: Bancroft, Khawaja, Renshaw, Wade, S Marsh

Anyone know what Chris Rogers or Ed Cowan are up to? haha

Reckon they might go with Marnus (and Burns)

Bring Cameron Green into 6, with Smith, Head and Wade.

I agree with you on the Marnus thing, he'd basically be opening anyway with any other option we attempt.

If they go Marnus and Burns then it means Marnus and Smith are basically opening....

May as well throw Gary Lyon up the top and bring Maxwell in to bat at 8. At least his 35 balls at the crease will be interesting.

The selectors seem pretty set on Burns so I think he will get the gig, not that I agree with it.

We know the selectors love a good T20 form player inclusion so Wade will come in to open.

The selectors will want someone that create some excitement regarding the team so Green into to number 6.

For me then it means the selectors will go with.

Burns
Wade
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Green
Paine
Cummins
Pattinson
Hazelwood
Lyon

I am all for Shaun Marsh to come back until Warner returns

Burns can not play
Harris I don't rate but he has scored runs and that is all you can ask

Langers lovechild Bancroft not without a chance either
Dave Warner will be missed!

I would love to see SMarsh come in...….if nothing else Facebook during the test series would be amazing to follow.

Reckon you have nailed this team, think they will go with this.

Agree with others that Burns definitely does not deserve to be in the team, maybe Harris instead, but they seem to be backing him in

Pattinson for Starc if he is still unavailable makes sense.

Bill Lawry at age 83 would be a better option than Shaun Marsh.

SMarsh to do a Steve Smith, after years of continuously being dropped and going back to dominate Shield he will become the true GOAT he is and end his career in Bradmanesque fashion.

In the media release from CA about Warner missing the first test there's nothing to suggest that they will replace Warner in the squad, I'm assuming in the coming days there will be a decision on Warner's replacement (and possibly Pucovski's if his concussion is serious enough for him to miss the next tour game).

I think the selection will depend on what happens in the tour game and I think Harris is the best chance and most logical option to replace Warner in the squad for the first test therefore Harris, Pucovski and/or Burns will be the openers for the first test match.

If that doesn't happen then I agree with the above posts that Marnus will open with one of the three I mentioned with Green to debut at six.

I can't see any of Marsh, Khawaja, Bancroft or Renshaw getting the call up. Bancroft is the best chance of those four as he actually is an opening batsman.

My only thing is that I'd rather a left/right opening partnership, I just think it makes a huge difference to the bowlers line when he's at his most dangerous.

They simply can not play Pucovski, i have no doubt it would take Bumrah all of about an over to knock him out. Bumrah is the last bloke you want to face if you have issues with the short ball.
Agree with everyone else, the 6 batsman will be Smith, Laba, Head, Wade, Burns and Green

Who are you referring too when you wrote he's?
Harris is left handed so Australia would have a left/right hand combination with Harris and Burns or Pucovski.
