CA has a duty of care for Pukovski.

If he gets badged, and he will, and gets crook then where do they stand?

He clearly has a short ball issue and Bumrah will exploit it.

CA has a duty of care for all contracted players.
If he chooses to play if selected, I think he takes the risk/rewards that come with it.

The only place to get better at the short ball is in the middle against the best.

Like everyone I hope he doesn’t get hit again though.

Yes Head made runs in the 1st innings but F*** both his dismissals were soft.

Compared to Wade Labachagne and Smith, Head hadn’t got as many credits. IMO.

Take your SA glasses off, you mob

Head has to stay in the side.

1) We know he has the ability, it's about taking the next step for himself and going on with his knocks which pisses us all off, but he has to stay in there because;

2) Once Paine is FINALLY replaced by Carey in the coming 18 months who captains the side? Is it Cummins? Is it Smith? Is it Head?

Head has to take the next step for himself and the country as we, I, don't want to burden Cummins with the captaincy, he has enough to do.

Agree, he might not be, but who is then?

Paine 36, Smith* 31, then who?

Carey will come in and potentially be the skipper one day, but do they give it back to Smith? Given he's not VC now I don't think they do. So Cummins until Carey long term? Carey himself is 29.

Phillipe will likely leapfrog Carey.

Carey may end up being one of those guys who was close but unlucky to never get a baggy green.

At 23 with a 1st class average of 28 with 1 hundred ( none at list A level ) he's way behind Carey. Unless of course bullshit BBL scores against Neville Nobody attacks count....oh,wait...

When discussing Matthew Wades test batting credentials
We should rate his batting innings/average when he played as a batsman only

Does anyone have his batting stats as a batsman only ?

Scroll down and it shows as keeper vs not as keeper. Averaging 35 from 12 matches, 2 100's, 1 50 and 5 single figure scores.

You know the answer to that.. ;)

Phillipe fits into the same mould of player the CA have tried the past 10yrs. Wont be long and "greats" will start making comparisons of him to some legend e.g. Gilchrist, and then the it'll snowball from there.

I thought it might have been closer to 40.
He’s in real trouble keeping his spot with an average that low.

Also Philippe has to make his way back into the WA Sheffield Shield team first, at the moment Josh Inglis is the preferred wicket-keeper for them while Sam Whiteman who was their preferred keeper and was once touted for higher honours has now become an opening batsman after getting injured and then losing his keeping spot to both Philippe and Inglis.

Get Carey in now then.
Paine has been great but time to say thanks for filling the void but your time is up.

With Smith and Warner back they don’t need a player with the C next to their name anyway.
Put it next to Cummins if they have too for now.

100%. Paine isn't the best keeper / batsman in the country right now, Carey is.

Paine is, rightfully, getting his dues for the job he did digging Australia out of the shit and he deserves to be given every opportunity to play out his shortened ( remember he was going to be the keeper to ascend to the role after Haddin ) international career but at 36 he's going to hold Carey back if he's in the gloves next Australian summer.

And here comes Josh Inglis flying up on the inside....

Sorry Boon Paine has Carey covered in glove work and batting ATM.

However he's about to hit that wall which all Test Keeper's smash into at the age he is now - 36.

Marsh, Healy, Gilchrist and Haddin were all done and cooked at or before 37.

Carey should be next in line and he's a bloody good gloveman with soft hands (sometimes he comes up a bit too early and he misses some low balls) and can bat. However Inglis has a very similar 1st class batting average (32 v Careys 34) and he's got great hands too, so don't be surprised.

Phillipe is behind those two.

I think Careys leadership skills will get him over the line as next test keeper but I wont be surprised if Inglis leap frogs him
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
