It's a big welcome to the Hogg a gun side who outscored all of us last season in CARNTHETIGERS. Normally new teams can only go as high as Division IV but I had to make an exception here as Pete would have been 2000 points clear of the number two seed. With so many players walking away or not accepting promotions, the simple solution was to put Pete into a decent league so he doesn't spend a year beating up on lower ranked sides. Sides such as The Dukes, Wilma Dikphit and JOBBY may well rue not snaffling the promotion spots that were offered over the past few days. As they almost said in Highlander, 'there can only be two' so it's the hard way to Divvy I from here.

Hogg Division II Preview 2021

Due to a massive amount of layoffs over the off season, I had to break a golden rule of Hogging by not starting off CARNTHETIGERS in Division IV. With such a high turnover of highly placed coaches, the gap between CARN and the second best side in Division III and IV were just too great. As it is, the gap in this division is a significant one with CARN rating higher than any of the coaches in the Hogg last season. Pete is a mate of Ross 'Magpie Mafia' and Dave 'Crowmagnion' in what is a mini invasion reminiscent of the old AFL Online days. CARN are the clear pick for flag honours but The Dukes will have something to say about that as will JOBBY'S ELITE who has to put up or shut up after he has failed to live up to the hype in his first two finals series. JK's Wilma Dikphit is another side that will be looking to book themselves a Division I spot. My Mum remains the best female coach in the Hogg and FNQ Trotters will continue to be a tough opponent, pensioners are a real worry as their preparation is second to none. For this flag though, it's hard to go past CARNTHETIGERS. So I won't.

Two teams I expect to improve on some pretty ordinary form last season are my own Staycat Strut and Greedy Guns. Both sides are normally very good scorers but seemed to have the year off last year. Strut in particular were very ordinary and coughed up a huge lead before reeling in the field and almost making the eight in the end.

Meanwhile, Nuggety's Nobodies look out of their depth up here as nuggety's scoring hasn't keep up with the people he is suddenly playing against. He won't find it any easier despite the drop in division as Division II has quite a bit of depth. Underbelly has been a low scoring team that has managed to win a lot of matches but time could be up for Kel and she could be replaced by a Kel from Division III in True North.

JOBBY opened up his season with a massive statement with a high scoring victory over fellow premiership favourite The Dukes in the first round in a high quality encounter. I reckon The Dukes won't be dropping too many matches in this league so it's a big win for JOBBY. Another premiership fancy Modraaaaaaa got rolled in the first round going down narrowly to Herb. With a couple of favourites stumbling in the first round a few stragglers from last season managed to get first up victories including Underbelly and Straycat Strut who struggled all year long last season.

Early stragglers include Frosty who hasn't gotten warm yet and Greedy Guns also haven't fired a shot. Right Nut has also yet to drop a good score so a few teams are looking for that winning formula early on in the season.

Even though it is Strut who sit atop the ladder the big dogs in Divvy II so far this season is JOBBY. JOBBY'S ELITE are racking up 2200 a week so far in what has been a fairly low scoring season of SuperCoach and they seem well poised to have a very strong season in this division. While not scoring as much as JOBBY I'm pretty happy with the Strutties being on top of the ladder here seeing as a year ago we were fighting off relegation.

Teams outside of the eight who will probably make their mark include Failed Creation, The Dukes and Some Can't who put in a shocker after three weeks of very good scoring. A cruel game is SuperCoach and the Cants now sit in 13th spot. A nice turnaround by Duromine and Nuggetty but no such luck for the four sides yet to open their account. Mods in particular is getting most distressed as player after player falls over for his side that performed so well last season. Early doors though lads and lasses it must be said.

Some Cant remains the big scorer in this division but they have somehow slumped to 14th on the ladder after they were beaten by the second ranked scorer in the match of the round in Division II. JOBBY is looking very dangerous indeed and they made light work of the Cants. The Dukes lorded it over struggling Right Nut as they recorded a massive 403 point win to catapult them into the top four.

FNQ Trotters have been quietly going about their business and they went to the top of the class after cleaning up Cossi as previous ladder leaders Straycat Strut were rolled by Mods. Underbelly finally got rolling as they cleaned up the hapless Nuggety and CARNTHETIGERS are starting to roar as their scoring is slowly building. In struggletown Frosty appears to be in a class of his own trailing right Cossi and Right Nut by nearly 300 points. Greedy Guns appeared to be a good fit for relegation also but they redeemed themselves with a big win over Wiggbros. All in all a very competitive league that is currently outpacing the more fancied Division I in the rankings.

It's all about JOBBY in Divvy II after Mods cleaned up the second ladder leader in as many weeks. JOBBY got a narrow 20 point victory in a high quality clash against Underbelly with both sides scoring over 2300. Underbelly has a history of not scoring well but winning matches so a bit of irony involved in this weeks result which saw Kels drop out of the top eight. Former top side FNQ Trotters was Mods' latest giant killing effort but Mods remains marooned outside of the top eight despite his back to back wins over competition leaders.

One step behind the mighty JOBBY are a host of sides with The Dukes being the most impressive. The Dukes have solid form going back to last season and they are already scoring well this season with a 2307 another high score for the round in this division. Straycat Strut sit in second spot but my Strutties have had a reasonably soft draw so far so jury out on my boys. Number on seed CARNTHETIGERS is not scoring all that well yet but are sitting pretty at 3-1 also. Failed Creation are another side that are looking the goods so the top eight seems to be taking shape pretty early on in this league.

Amongst the stragglers, Frosty is more trouble than the early settlers and they look like a Monty to go down as they are really struggling to score points at the moment. A lot needs to go right for the Frosty one to avoid the drop from here. Nuggetys Nobodies also look vulnerable but with an early win they aren't done with just yet. Right Nut finally got amongst the scoring but a zip four start can be difficult to overcome and for them to scramble out of the top four.

Already JOBBY looks a fair way ahead of the rest with Failed Creation and The Dukes looking the mostly likely but early doors for sure.

While top side JOBBY'S ELITE has shown signficant skill in his play so far this season, there is also a strong element of luck involved in SuperCoach and he was certainly favoured by Lady Luck this week. JOBBY dodged a almighty bullet after carding a subpar 1880 but avoided what would have been a massive boilover as Cossi is one of the stragglers in this year's comp. There's nothing like having a shocker but the draw smiling on you when you do. Another team who had the luck of the draw was FNQ Trotters who, like most of us, struggled like hell this week but Frosty hasn't gotten warm all year so the Trotters got a pass for a pretty ordinary score. Duromine Dependent was the other top side who managed to get a win against a struggling side but at least Duromine managed to score 1902 which was only slightly below par for the round.

Some other sides were not so lucky. Herbs'N'Spices carded a respectable 1969 but copped an astonishing effort from battling Nuggetys Nobodies who gleefully scooped up the upset win to move out of the relegation zone. Nice work @nuggetty goodness. Meanwhile, if CARNTHETIGERS were any stiffer they'd be a frozen pizza. 1996 was an above average score for this week but Straycat Strut managed to avoid most of the pitfalls of the round to win by 16 points.

Some sides just fell in a massive hole. Modraaaaaa! crashed back to earth in no uncertain terms as the wheels just fell off his team. He could literally do nothing as player after player went down. Naturally, The Dukes as one of the best teams in the comp, totally lorded it over Mods and he went to second on the ladder above Strut as a result. Failed Creation lived up to his name and luck can't save you if you can't score 1800, even during a horror round. Wigg was another team to flip out this week with yet another gloriously crud score. Mod's massive fail has now put him in the bottom four but this rather exclusive club only appears to have room for one more as three sides are zip-five and two of them are so bad they probably couldn't even beat each other. Season not done yet for Right Nut who at least scores points (they copped an on fire Some Can't this week) but things are looking grim for Frosty and Cossi.

JOBBY remains unbeaten after six rounds even though he won ugly against battlers Right Nut. If you can get a win when you aren't at your best then it's always a good thing and JOBBY would be thinking he dodged a bullet last week. The Dukes are prowling menacingly in recent weeks and instead of dodging a bullet they smashed their lowly opponent as Frosty felt the heat from the Duke.

There wasn't much action on the ladder this week with the top eight sides getting the job done. Straycat Strut managed a win with McNiel as captain after stuffing up the loophole but Greedy was in no position to argue as they carded a low score. FNQ Trotters had a tight win against the pre-season number one seed CARNTHETIGERS who are not living up to that billing after slipping to 3-3 as a result of the ten point loss. Some Can't are the leagues's leading scorer and after dropping a couple of early games they are starting to make some real progress while Permstance's Wilma is heading towards Bedrock bottom with another loss.

Nuggetty was all duck and no dinner after dining out last week when nobody could score and only copping the scraps when everyone rebounded. Their loss dropped them back into the relegation zone to join the burger ring teams with nothing it the W column. It's going to be very tough now for the bottom three to get out of that relegation zone as none of them are scoring well enough to affect the turnaround. The three sides just outside of the eight have some claims to finals action but no one in the top eight looks wobbly at this stage so there might be no room at the inn. Liking the look of The Dukes more and more but you can't knock a six-zip start so for now, JOBBY has the runs on the board.

One of the worst things in SuperCoach is when you play a struggling team and then they suddenly turn on a blinder when they play you. That is what happened to Underbelly who would have been entitled to go in as favourites against Herbs'N'Spices who are perilously close to the relegation zone. It's history now that Herbie got a top 1% score to trounce Kel by nearly two hundred points to get the big upset. Underbelly wasn't the only top eight side to come a cropper this week either. JOBBY has been dominating all year but a 134 point defeat to Wilma suggests that he is a mere mortal after all. FNQ Trotters and Some Cant also got rolled so this week was very much for the teams who had gotten off to a slow start.

The big winners were The Dukes who top the charts after seven rounds after they dispatched CARNTHETIGERS who can't get going this season. Straycat Strut and Duromine Dependent are two others to dodge the carnage and they've got the inside running on a top four spot with several top teams faltering. Spare a thought for Frosty who came so near but so far from rolling top eight Failed Creation. Creation got the chocolates but it wasn't a convincing display against the cellar dwellars. It was a much needed win because Modraaaaaaaaaa!!!! appear to be back in town as a contender as Cravo made light work of Some Cant. Greedy Guns are another struggling side who pulled out the big result as they got the surprise win over FNQ Trotters.

The bottom four are standing out for the wrong reason as Nuggetty's Nobodies put in a barry crocker against the Strut. With the other battlers winning there was no goodness in that performance for Nuggetty. Cossi's Carnts opened their account but it was only against fellow struggler Right Nut who joined Frosty at the arse end of the ladder at zip-seven.

In a week where the league did not score well in comparison to some others, ladder leaders The Dukes laid down a hefty marker as they crunched Greedy Guns in an emphatic statement. The Dukes are the top scorer, the league leaders and the highest scorers of the round and are looking a very dangerous proposition in this league. Duromine and JOBBY didn't achieve Dukelike scoring but came along for the ride to be 7-1 but Wiggbros got the better of Straycat Strut to march into the top eight after a quality encounter.

FNQ Trotters, Some Cant and Underbelly managed to consolidate their spots but round 8 could be the round where a sleeping giant has awaken. CARNTHETIGERS were the number one seed by some distance in the pre-season but their form has been underwhelming to date. The CARNS managed to clean up Failed Creation who are scoring ok but all of a sudden dropping matches. Another important win this week was the narrow win by Cossie's Carnts who are the one side who look like having a crack at getting out of the relegation zone. Right Nut and Frosty still have the burger ring and Nuggetty is fading fast so Cossi will have an eye on Herb and Greedy Guns in attempt to stay at this level.
