Brad Hodge averaged 52 in test cricket, Hussey and Berry were deprived of opportunity IIRC, Dave Hussey would slot into the ODI group though.

10621 runs @60.69 with 42 hundreds (the second most behind Boofs 45) in Shield cricket is an outstanding record but then to play 18 test matches, have 30 innings and average only 29.07 and not make a hundred shows he's (unfortunately for him) perfect for the in-between category.Lightning McQueen wrote:I actually thought Bevo had a better test average than he did, he struggled real bad against the short ball, hence the huge difference in his white ball form, I don't think they were allowed to bowl over shoulder height for a while when he was playing.

In the most recent Shield match against NSW Bird rushed past 300 Shield wickets, he now has 307 @21.33 at a SR of 44.9.Lightning McQueen wrote:whufc wrote:DOC wrote:Jackson Bird bowl himself into an ashes squad ahead of Starc?
Very underrated bowler but think he is one of these guys that really needs the wicket to be doing a bit, similar to Starc needs there to be swing. Also not sure Bird would compliment the current pace attack. For mine Pattinson with his fire and brimstone is ahead of Bird.
Current test record 34 wickets @ 30
Current shield record 409 wickets @ 24.
As TDK pointed out in a question I raised, he'd fit right into that in-between category.

Shield crickets Haynes & Greenridge.

Yeah mate, they got right royally shafted , pretty sure DiVenuto was in the same category, very Siddons like.
Stuart Law played one test and scored 54*, Martin Love averaged 46 but only played 5 tests, mind you, this was at a time that Haydos couldn't break into the side despite scoring runs in his sleep.

David Hussey was never a test selection chance on account of the No D!ckhead policy

Yeah Di Venuto never played test cricket either. I guess it was the quality around Hills and Cox both averaged over 40 but were never going to get a game ahead of the Slater and Taylor who were great test batsmen and then a bloke like Hayden who equally as good a shield player as them.
What were the iconic 90's opening batting partnerships.
SA- Blewett & Nobes
TAS- Hills & Cox
QLD- Hayden & Barsby
WA- Marsh & Veletta
VIC- Elliott &
NSW- Taylor & Steve Small
You just made me think of a new contender especially for an ODI side...………………………….Jimmy Maher.

Did something similar when it was announced that Mike had made a ton elsewhere for WA whilst he was fielding for Victoria at AO.Lightning McQueen wrote:am Bays wrote:Armchair expert wrote:Brad Hodge, Dave Hussey, Darren Berry

Very dislikeable person, he dropped a catch right in front of me for Aus A and I suggested that I should be out there instead, he went off his tits at me with a heap of expletives not a care in the world about the kids nearby.

When Hookesy and Flipper settled in for the day it was going to be great viewing.
Used to jump on the next train as a 11-12 year old if they had put on a few before lunch, the oldies could keep an eye on me still on TV with the other 47 spectators. Used to stand near the VR gates to try and get a catch.
