Murphy, Betts & Casboult would not be on a list anywhere else, let alone in their best 22. How are these guys going to improve your team? They are just stifling development of others. They have plenty of experience without these 3.

Absolutely savage, although they are more than entitled to feel a little bit frustrated.

I agree with Murphy and Betts.
Should have retired last year.

Casboult is no superstar but would make most other teams.

Every year they get thrown at Richmond first up and lose.

2016 - 9 points
2017 - 43 points
2018 - 26 points
2019 - 33 points
2020 - 24 points

Then we get the inevitable "Gee Carlton look to have improved, really pushed Richmond for 3 quarters before the class of Richmond shone through"

Meanwhile most Richmond blokes have just sobered up from the year before, Carlton are 6 weeks ahead in their prep over the summer and 9 years in a row they lose round 2.

2016 - 60 points to Sydney
2017 - 22 points to Melbourne
2018 - 34 points to Gold Coast
2019 - 16 points to Port
2020 - 1 point to Melbourne
PAFC. Forever.

Moore brilliant. Pendles owned Cripps in the first half, and apart from one shocking howler, played like captain should..
Noble got plenty of it as well.
Umpiring was interesting at times.
Not sure Howes shanked torp could be deemed as not sufficient intent?
Bring on the Lion's.

The call on Pendlebury was worse - A shanked kick whilst being tackled deemed as "insufficient intent"....

The issue with Carlton is they have tried to rebuild by holding onto way too many experienced players, a couple of years back they had the 2nd oldest list in the comp!

But they just sack their coaches (most of who are considered to be excellent - Pagan, Malthouse, Ratten) and don't acknowledge the root cause of their issues.

Then they spent two years listening to Silvagni tell them how good all these blokes who couldn't get a game for GWS were and they should get them across.

They go with plans, whether they be good or bad, but don't stick to them.

Cas is shockingly out of form (limited pre season isn't helping him) but playing because we really have no one else. No McGovern, no Curnow, no De Koning. So he's having to play CHF and pinch hit in ruck. He wouldn't be playing unless we had injuries. He's not in our best 22, so no idea who would take him on at 30 odd when he doesn't really have a position. Pittonet wouldn't be playing either if De Koning was fit.

Betts will help the team, only for on ground leadership.

Murphy is looking like concrete, which could be ok if we had speed around him and Cripps isn't quick either! We can't have two slow-er small blokes in the same team at the same time IMO.

I read that McGovern will be ready for Rd3. Whether they bring him in or not off the back of a limited prep is anyone's guess.

To Carlton's defence, they've been ravaged by injuries to key players every year consistently, it doesn't help being a developing squad that obviously has lacked depth, their core 22 have been around the mark but they've been lucky to even field 17-18 of them for some time.

I think they've been hit harder than most other clubs.

Looks like 2 changes for Port.

Bonner injured and Marshall not training with the main group, got crunched in the last few moments last week.

You'd think Hartlett and Georgiades come in.
