Think theres a strong case to bring in Ben Kelly for this game. An extra tall in defence is clearly needed. North took many contested grabs up forward and Sturt did likewise in the last trial.
Nice to see Ben (and Jackson's) dad Paul in the Changerooms after the game.

Saw Paul in Renmark on Friday morning, I figured he was on his way to Elizabeth to watch his boys.

Agree with this.

I think we are going to be a team who bounce around all year from 'good win' to 'bad loss'. Some opponents will batter us through their sheer physical presence, whilst other sides at times will get enough ball inside their forward 50 for the big talls to kill us.

The most pleasing part for me last week though was that North kicking the first 3 goals of the second quarter didn't see us completely bend over and be outscored 6 goals to nothing like we have in the last ten years. For one reason or another whether that be maturity, playing for the coach, increased self belief, increased fitness, whatever reason it was they didn't give in and continued to smash in hard...….the rewards ended up coming.

I still don't believe like Thommo and the club that we are a top 3 side.....(happy to be wrong) but if we can be in the discussion of finals until the final rounds and we don't play 3 quarters a game I will see that as improvement.

A shame Boyd didn't leave us three months ago, could of done with the salary cap room that would have freed up. I could send them a couple of North Eastern Football League guns similar to the Coombes boys.

Agree pretty much fully with this.
Please still send the boys down... we could always do what the Eagles do and arrange 'employment' for them through a job agency so we don't have to include them under the salary cap.

Every club including yours does this. Nothing illegal or even wrong with this.

True, there isn't; I never said there was. Unfortunately, though, we don't have a job agency as a major sponsor and have a lot of trouble finding employment for players. We have missed out on a number of recruits in the past few seasons as a result. I also know that at least one club the recruits have never spent a day working for their 'employer'; they possibly don't even know who their employer who pays them actually is. This is what I find a bit unethical.

On a serious side I hope the dogs smash PA. I respect the club. I disrespect the intruders and why they are in the comp. I actually know members of the coaching staff and know the effort they put in over the off season.

Dear Groucho, I apologise for your taking my 'like' the wrong way. I just thought it was pretty clever how PPHFC could be interpreted as 'Port Power Hypocrites Football Club''.... which I believe is a pretty appropriate description of them :)
I am confident that most on here mean no personal harm to you, Groucho.... at the same time, it would be nice to see some more positivity about our club from your posts though. I have been at fault on that count too though; I predicted we would win the spoon before last week's match. Now I am somewhat more hopeful, although one sparrow does not make a summer.
