NSW win the toss and bat in the shield final. Nearly a diamond duck in the first over!

Is the shield final normally this late in the year......it well and truly feels like cricket season has finished.

That’s coz we follow the redbacks mate and their season is normally dead and buried months ago!

I can't recall any first class cricket match in Australia beginning in April.

The Shield Final is always in late March.

Queensland will bat for the next 2 days and lead by 600, then have 2 days to bowl NSW out,

Looking at the stats you would be forgiven for thinking its a seaming green top

Some extremely average shots/ lack of shots

Very undermanned NSW batting lineup.

Draw isn't good enough for the home side this year. Performance points will be used to determine winner in the event of no outright winner.

Same as it does during the regular season I believe.
The batting side receives 0.01 points for every run scored beyond 200 in its first 100 overs of its first innings. The bowling side receives 0.1 points for every wicket taken inside the first 100 overs of its opponents first innings.

Cheers.
I don’t like rule changes but don’t mind this one as both teams try for the win.

This is the latest ever finish to a Sheffield Shield season.

Queensland 1/58 at stumps, trail by 85.

Hardly an issue for the Home team when the away team makes 143

Jason Sangha probably had the worst dismissal of the innings although Gilkes leaving it and getting bowled off stump was pretty bad too.
Jack Edwards dismissal was about as easy and regulation as you can get for a bowler, he couldn't of made it any easier for Jimmy Peirson behind the stumps too.

Gilkes, like WTF, why wouldn't you leave a straightening pitched up ball in line with the stumps? Holt's dismissal looked like the last over of an under 12 T20 match.
