Really if you're not a Port or Collingwood fan you have no stake in this and tbh your care factor should be zero. (Lol If we're all throwing out opinions then I say let em' wear it )

I don't care if they wear it or not, but what amuses me is Port fans demanding that their club gets to wear the jumper, completely ignoring the fact that they already wear it every single week!

I don't think that's ignored, playing South at Noarlunga on a Sunday or playing Adelaide on the national stage at Adelaide Oval aren't the same thing, are they?

One club and all that....what would be amusing if the Magpies move to the VFL or and AFL reserves comp, what happens then?

I think part of this is just based on a brilliant marketing ploy by Port to galvanize their supporters.

They have always enjoyed the 'us against the rest' mentality. It used to be us against the SANFL, this is the latest version.

Even if Port don't get to wear the prison bars, (and even if they know they can't), continually going through the media on it, using players to endorse how important it is to them etc they come across as giving the members what they want, and either way the club comes out a winner in the eyes of their supporters.

If they get to wear it, its a win. If they don't then they've rallied the supporter base and made them feel more connected to the club and the cause.

One step away from MPAGA ;)

Not sure why they would be pushing the Crows home showdown.

What if the Crows asked to wear the state guernsey for the showdowns?

They should ask to wear the black and white state guernsey, that would be a laugh!

Then the public would call for Nigel Smart to be whipped naked by Warren Tredrea through the streets of Alberton

When Port got the right to enter the AFL competition it came with conditions.
These were agreed upon and they registered their colours as black, white and teal.
They designed a guernsey with a different front, but the same back as the prison bar guernsey.
All good.

Branding is everything in merchandise sales.
Immigrants, kids, just new people to the game see a black and white stripe jumper one day. Prison bars.
The next day they see another black and white stripe jumper worn by a different team. Collingwood.
Now the new punter is confused as he/she now doesn't know who's who in the zoo.
I've said it previously, what if the crows decided to wear a glenelg guernsey to celebrate the fact they raped us when they entered the AFL.
I think Richmond may have something to say about that.

There's been some interesting takes but this one is right up there.

Imagine all those immigrants in the UK running around confused as f*ck by Man United and Liverpool, then wondering who Everton, Leicester or Chelsea is.

Would the EPL allow another team to enter now with the same strip/colours?

Happens most years with Promotion/relegation, albeit we're not talking newly founded clubs

I do. :D

What they do though, and it's quite revolutionary, is if two sides who both wear blue play each other the team who is playing away from home wears a completely, wait for it, it's quite remarkable, different coloured top!

Must have quite the think tank operating over there.

Not comparing apples for apples with the EPL and the AFL.
Totally different cultures.
You can trot that dribble out all day long.

Let's say a totally new club gets formed in england and they want to wear Newcastle's black and white stripped strip.
Do you think Newcastle's fans and management would be happy about it?
