Hogg Division III Preview 2021

Can't cover this league this season so I have to get my sledges in here while I can.

Zedforce may be the number one ranked team in terms of points in this division but Zed has to change a bad habit that he has gotten into in recent seasons, scoring well but dropping matches. Zed was a force last year in Division III but couldn't make the eight and couldn't quite snaffle a promotion either. Zed will certainly be a team to watch but I strongly suspect that newer sides GETOUTOFTHEWAY and The Wizard's Sleeves may trump them. GETOUT was another side who scored well but got done at times while The Wizard's Sleeves started brilliantly last year only to falter towards the end of the season. If CJ has learnt from the lessons of 2020 he will be a force in this division. All of these sides have strong claims but I believe the premiership favourite is True North. North had a shocking run last year but got it together late. I think the longer season will suit Kel and she can take this flag. Zed and GETOUT will somehow drop matches when scoring well and the Wizard's magic won't last till August. Get on True North for the flag.

Two lower ranked sides who I expect to vault into contention here are Ugly Ducklings and Gilligan's Power Rules. Quite often in the lower leagues it is the keen coaches that can make strong inroads. Steph has recently carded some good summer SuperCoach form in the Big Bash so I expect her to get back into the top eight at least. Golden Fleece has some claims for a spot in the eight as well after an uncharacteristically flat season last year.

It could be quite a battle down the bottom to avoid relegation and sorry redwhiteandblueblooded but I reckon Joe Kendas Mob might be in for a long year. The Killer Wombats have been off their tucker for the past couple of seasons so it will be interesting to see if Tipper can fight back. The Bye is a strong contender for the spoon with Kenda and the Ingle Farm Felons, who were a bit lucky to get the call up, might struggle at this level.

Match of the round is the Ducklings vs the Wombats who are sitting 7th and 8th, the marsupials have been steadily increasing their scoring each week and should be able to put another win in the pouch.
The Felons and Zedforce will be a fair battle with two even lists, can Zed break into the winners circle? The Fleece should account for JKM while the The Bye take on the improving Wizard in what should be an entertaining duel.
Moneybrawl take on the Star Midfield who are both on one win, the Star's have been very unlucky as they have been scoring well but getting pipped on the post, I'd expect to see them still alive at the pointy end of the season.
GETOUTOFTHEWAY and True North will have a genuine shootout as only 33 points separate them for the season so far, Power Rules and Port Forever will have a tackle free internal where I'm tipping the Rules to bolt it in.

Round 5 could see the gap getting bigger between the top 8 and the rest, the Ducklings take on the Felons on FNF and I'm tipping an upset here, the Fleece have been in good touch and should account for the wombats while I'm thinking Zed will break the drought over HCTS.
Power Rules should be too strong for JKM and once again the Sleeves are up against another unbeaten side in the Teasdale's, life should start getting a little easier for them after this hurdle.
The GETOUT's should get up nicely against P4Eva to remain firmly in the 8 while the Bye host the Star Midfield who score well and remain in the 8.
The last two matches of the round have evenly poised Liamscrows and Moneybrawl fighting out to keep in touch with the 8 while two undefeated sides go toe to toe in Kiwi Krappers and True North, TN will be seething after winning, remaining undefeated and dropping two places..................eek!!

The Duckling vs the Fleece looms to be match of the round going on recent form although the Power vs Wombats clash should be cliffhanger too.
The Wizards face a determined ZedForce who will be looking at back to back wins, only 12 points separated the pair last week so anything could happen here also.
GETOUTOFMYWAY front up against JoeKenda in what will be a tougher assignment than ladder positions suggest and could Moneybrawl inflict a huge upset against those directly pointing up?
Blight T should remain undefeated as should The Bye and the Krappers despite the latter two looking a little shaky last week.
The Felons from the Farm should continue their push up the ladder with a percentage boosting win this weeks against the arriving Suns.

We could potentially still have 3 undefeated sides 7 rounds in as the Krappers and BT's take on JKM and Liamscrows respectively in what should be penciled in as wins, They Bye take on fifth placed True North who are more than capable of posting a big score.


The Ducklings will be hoping for GOOMW to drop a game to move into the 8 although I think TheSuns are ready for a win and this could be the week they break their drought. The Wizards have been scoring well but losing, I think they'll upset the Felon's this week too.

Power Rules have been making a strong charge and could upset the Fleece whereas I'm tipping Zed to continue their good recent form to topple the Midfielders, Moneybrawl to get the choccies in a tight battle with P4E although I'm tipping a few upsets this round to tighten the middle of the table.
