What are the WWTFC thinking allowing 1 of their players play for an opposition club in the same comp. How does the SANFL allow this? Does the SANFL not own this comp in anyway anymore?

I assume he is not playing league for the Eagles?
Smart move by them if he's not, gives him exposure at League level and they may call upon him later in the year knowing what they will get.

Im sure Goldsack is nervous and excited about his league debut

I found this on another site. Was it for money? Is it an AFL rule and overrides the SANFL.

AFL approved Next Generation Academy (NGA) and Father Son players can be temporarily permitted during their 18th and 19th years (the years in which they are eligible for drafting with concessions) if nominated by the AFL club they are aligned to. It should be noted that this is subject to the player electing and agreeing to being nominated by AFC and PAFC for temporary permit.
In the 18th year, such a player can be permitted for a period of four games, but will not be eligible for a permit if they have already played League Football at their SANFL club. The SANFL Club will receive a fee in the sum of $2,500.

Been playing well at U18 level for the Eagles, keeping an eye on him as I reckon he might get a fairly high bid on him at the draft.

If that’s the case wouldn’t Port be best served long term keeping him ferreted away at 18s level? Plays well with your reserves team he’s got to attract more interest and consequently more points from you come November.

Collingwood have the same problem with Daicos. He’s going to cost them unless they spoon up.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If he had played one league game for the Eagles he wouldn’t be playing for Port .
Something to think about maybe he should’ve been on the bench for a league match so Port couldn’t get him for four games

I couldn't really see him getting a league game with the Eagles in the next four weeks so not overly concerned and I do understand to an extent why the Eagles let him do it (if they had a say in the matter) 1. The eagles seem like they get money out of it 2. Burgoyne gets league experience which would likely mean he will be better player at this level when he does become available for the eagles again 3. We just played Port so no risk he plays against his current SANFL club.

However the thing that annoys me is that once again this impacts the integrity of the competition.

I wonder what other secret squirrel deals the SANFL has with the AFL. Comp integrity not an issue apparently.
